Our official leadership group weren't all that great. The unoffical one seemed a lot better.

As is the norm with this group the players that got us back into it are the ones who got us in a mess in the first place. Unfortunately Malthouse was praising their comeback on the telly. Makes it hard to weed out the weak but hopefully Malthouse gets told by someone this is not new and he should mix things up until he finds a resilient group that isn't happy getting six goals down before switching on.

They pick and choose when to play - no wonder he said he's still trying to find ways to motivate them! Ridiculous

I think Mick is trying to figure out what works best to motivate them.

I don't think Ratts ever knew the best way and would probably have had a rye smile at half time.

Ever thought we played the belter smelter game plan as its the only thing we are good at?

Or are we only good at it as that's all we did?

The chicken or the egg...

I think you should be aware by now that what Malthouse says to the media at times will be very different to what he says to the players behind closed doors.

I wasn't a fan of his appointment, but the guy isn't an idiot.

I expect the brain fades, undisciplined acts and half hearted efforts to be eradicated pretty quickly.

The ins and outs will tell us a lot about who is conforming to team standards and who isn't.

Aaron Joseph isn't our most talented player but Malthouse will love his dedication and effort. That's why he got a game in Round 1. To reward him and to send a message to everyone else on the list that effort will count as much as talent. You might get a game with little talent and lots of effort but I can't wait for the day he weeds out the players with lots of talent who give anything less than 100% effort.

Well said Brad. I must admit I am a fan of the MM appointment because I believe he will weed out the players who don't give 100% effort all the time and not when they feel like it. I love Rats but I thought some players abused his faith in them. I don't think Mick will let this happen too often.
