I have watched the evolution of our ruck stocks over the years into a potentially potent force . But one thing that strikes me, is that all 3 are too good to be on the side lines. Having The third person as depth, seems to me to be a waste of the athleticism of K and H. Clearly W is limited to a tap ruckmen role and should play in that role if he is to stay at the club and not be traded.
But that leaves K and our boy hampson. Imo kreuzer has to play on the ball, he just that good. His ball hunting ability is extraordinary, and as many have identified, plays often as an extra midfielder. Why not solidify his position as a ruck rover type, with warnock as the tap ruckmen?
And so to hampson. I feel that a new role should be found for hampson. We know he can play forward, and perhaps that is his position. But with casboult, waite, rowe, mitchel as big targets , and with high flyers walker and betts as other targets, should we be looking at other options, namely a defensive position or possibly a wing.
Defense looks a liitle more interesting to me. A backline with jamison henderson and hampson looks good to me. Could jamison who is a little undersized, be re- roled into taking the third forward? Could henderson play full back and hampson half back?
Hampson seems fairly mobile to me, but may need the straight lines of chb to work as a defender. But imo that is why henderson is working so well at chb, he may struggle as a fb. Or not? Could hampson play the third defender floating across the backline?
Interested in others thoughts.
