Have a look at the 2nd qtr vs Adelaide again.

Thing is though Doc, it's fine to say he has good patches on the ball (and that's all they are, patches). However he is so clearly the worst of the three when he rests forward that for mine it makes it hard to select him.

There's no way Kreuzer isn't getting picked, and Hampson has made a significantly higher contribution around the ground (and particularly up forward).

Unfortunately, our forward line through either fitness or lack of experience is not at a level where we can carry a liability like Warnock down there. I think Hampson gets the nod.

I watched the 2nd quarter again.

Warnock did look strong. He moved well. He attcked the ball on the ground. He roved his own hit out.

That was about it for that quarter.

I thought Kreuzer did much much more than Warnock in the 2nd. Kreuzer is da man.
Hampson took marks in the forwardline and in the last line of defense.
Hampson had a good spring at the ball ups.
Hampson also had a couple of brain fades and I think he was fatigued when he did them. If not, he'll learn from them.

I'm a huge Warnock fan, and in finals I hope he's up and about, fit and firing to lead our ruck division against the best, but as of round 1 it seems to me that Hammer and Krooze are ahead of Warnock.

As I said earlier, who knows what instructions MM gave Warnock and whether he fulfilled them or not.

I love having the 3 quality ruckmen....and I thought all 3 showed more than Jacobs on the night.

By Christ I hope I'm wrong. It could be the most feral we ever see the Tigers fans if they win.

I really don't care if they beat us Rd 1. The pressure is all on them this year anyway.

Sure, they will be feral, but their expectations will be even higher and it will be all the more amusing if they eventually fail to deliver as is their tradition.

I used to dread Army being down back because I was not confident of his kicking/choice making. I am wondering whether he has improved enough to go there . A half back line of Yazz, Hendo and Army would be a terrific launch for counter attacks.

..as soon as Yazz is fit enough, he ought to never play back six again.. ..wing for me, he can be so much more.. ..a bit more hunger for the contest, and he could be up there with a gazza type of player.. ..he looks great breaking lines from deep in defence, and then hitting up leading fwds.. ..but i reckon he'd be even better breaking lines from the wing, and racing fwd to kick the goals himself..

I'd like to fit White in, but at the same time, realise that this is the first time in ages we've had both Hendo and Jamo to play on Riewoldt if need be. Nor are there too many other talls needed to cover. McGuane and Vickery?

Duigan probably becomes more of an option given their amount of medium sized talls rotating through their forward line - Edwards, Knights, Martin, King etc.

Rd 1 - we basically got the ascendency after Maric went off for a spell. Perhaps 3 rucks with a view to tire him out?

My recollection is that Carrazzo went onto Cotchin in the second quarter and then things changed.

Yep. Carrazzo quelled Cotchin's influence after that and did well with his own game too.

If we learn how to win centre clearances in the next two weeks Richmond won't get within 5 goals.

OOne of our biggest issues last year was the forward line. in the context of the whole season, if Eddie (or jeff G.) didn't fire we struggled. Seems as though that was the case last night as well. I am disappointed that Andy Walker hasn't taken the next step and been a class forward. Injury has impacted him but this year the opportunities have been there but he hasn't really delivered.... yet.
There is much to be done but we really lack class up forward.
This will be a challenge for MM and his coaching panel.

Walker is a funny one. He is a sensational leap and grab marker (obviously) but not SO strong at finding space and leading at the ball. I reckon his best forward work is when he is running down the ground and/or picking up crumbs in the forward line with Betts.

I think he should play as a small fwd. Then, he can still have the opportunity to take big marks etc, but first and foremost get to the feet of players like Casboult, Waite, Hampson etc.

No need for walker in the forward line if we are playing two talls and resting ruck in there. He just gets squeezed out of the marking contests and isnt a go to man. So really he is playing as a small forward but it doesnt look like his go.
He wants to play in defense. Might work and we do need more dash back there.

I thought walker was going to leave the club until promised a spot up fwd?
