Those arseholes on Footy Classified have brought up the interview with Libba about the Kreuzer Cup. They are replaying the interview with him again.
Jeff Kennett thinks what Libba said is worse than what McLean said so there should be an investigation (another one). Matthew Lloyd said that then the AFL should investigate every team that has received a priority pick over the last 10 years.
Looks like they have us in the gun.

I am enjoying it now, Kennett has just said that Vlad should stand down. I hope the fat prick gets the sack.

Liberatore has gone on to bigger and better things.
Such a role model.

It would be just our luck that the AFL investigate other clubs and Collingwood is found guilty of tanking in 2005. They would be fined, which they can afford, and then Malthouse is suspended for 16 weeks like Bailey was.

Is. This the 'Vibe' thing again ? Yeah, a sacked ex coach talking crap is a lot worse then a leader of a Club (as McLean was at the Dees in 09) asking to be traded because he was so disgusted with Melbourne at that time.
Already investigated. No evidence.
Move on.

With that in mind

On August 6, 2007, The Age (Carltons not tanking, says Lions coach) reported that Lions coach Leigh Matthews didnt believe Carlton were tanking. Allegations were thick and fast after Brendon Fevola left the field after kicking 6 goals. Matthews said he didnt believe coaches and players would willing lose a game if they had a choice.

“It’s totally foreign for coaches and players to go to the footy without being prepared to die for the win – I believe that to be the case. The tanking concept are by people who don’t understand the competitive urges that participants feel.” – Leigh Matthews

On March 13th, 2008 on the Footy Show, Tony Liberatore alleged that Carlton had tanked in 2007. The Heraldsun (“AFL to interview Liberatore over tanking claims“) and the ABC (“Liberatore to meet with AFL over tanking claim“) reported that Libba had already admitted that the coaching staff never discussed throwing matches and no directives were ever received from Carlton officials.

“I never heard (a directive to lose), but I could feel it, if that makes sense. Nobody ever said we’re not going to win today but the feeling in the group was that it was a bit of a laugh” – Tony Liberatore

The Age (“No AFL action of Libba tanking claim“) later reported that the AFL found insufficient evidence.

“During the meeting, Mr Liberatore confirmed it was his view that at all times Carlton’s players played to win matches and also confirmed that at no stage was anything said to him, or did he hear anything, to the effect that Carlton should not try to win matches”

On June 16th, 2012, Brendon fevola told the Heraldsun (“Carlton made it hard to win“) that Carlton didnt necessarily tank, but they did make it harder to win playing players out of position and sending others off for surgeries. The article quotes Fevola

“It is absolutely true that we never sat around as a playing or coaching group and worked out a way to lose any of our matches after Brett Ratten took over as coach. None of us ever deliberately gave the ball away or kicked a point instead of a goal or pulled out of a contest.”

No doubt Carlton tanked just like Melbourne did. They also mentioned the round 22 game in 2007 between Richmond and StKilda which was the worst example of tanking i have seen by one team.

The thing is the teams that have tanked havent been successful since.

It breeds a bad culture within the club.
Look at the Swans
Only 2 top ten picks in that premiership team last year. This team gives you everything when they play.

Carlton's culture has been ordinary over the last decade.
You guys can have a crack at Libba and yes he was a bitter man and its one of the reasons he gave that interview.
You can have a go at Hutchy for being a knob
Have a go at the show

Fact is we tanked in round 22. Travis Johnstone was allowed to do what he wanted and Ratten didnt do anything about it.
Ironic isnt that had he put a tagger on him we may have Trent Cotchin running around for us.

Seriously when I read some of you guys and the rubbish you write deflecting the truth by attacking other people I think you guys dont get it.

Face it. There is enough evidence to conclude that in some games if you went to some games five years ago you went to support your team that didnt want to win.
Just another example of how shit this club has been over the last 10 years.

And some of the players behind the scenes are still there

Worst tanking I've ever seen:
Essendon* vs Richmond, when Ess threw the game to avoid playing us in the finals. They lost to Rich by about 12 goals then the next week came out and beat them by the same amount in the finals.

Ess: salary cap, drugs and tanking. They win the race to the bottom.

But we wouldn't have got Cotchin and Judd as we would of lost pick 3

Its about culture
Its not about getting Kreuzer
Its about looking at the big picture
Something this club sadly lacks

Whilst we on the media since the heading of this post is Footy Classified get ready for an interesting year at Royal Parade
Mentioning Nick Duigan as captain wouldnt go to well with the board
A very conservative board at that
I predict a few personality clashes between the coach and a few old fossils of the club this year.
