And now i want DOC to clarrify the MCG thing....

Is this club policy????

If so why is DOC the mouthpiece????

If its not.. why is DOC using this as a membership signing game breaker???

I think you can read into this that it's now club policy. Only problem I have is them rolling it out via facebook - where the neanderthals want to go back to Princes Park. Even when given two options...some people think they've been given three. A lot of stupid people out there. Should probably have been done via website poll with attached online letter from the CEO. Make the stakeholders (members) feel as if they're a big part of the decision/negotiating process. Of course - the reality is that it's a numbers game.

All numbers point to the MCG. Buy a membership.

I am tipping I am going to see an abundance of this emoticon  used in this thread and not in the right context either.

Bananas!!!

The club if good enough will dictate its own future...
to use the G or the Dome or PP as the catalyst... the silver bullet to get members is ridicuous and will only give people another kick to the head when in the end when destiny will take its own course.

This is not how you win hearts and minds of the supprter base....

Straw clutching, snake oll selling amateurism popularist bullshit!!!....

Whats the club doing about making us a more exciting brand and bringing us into the 2020s today???

Where are the initiatives that other clubs marvel???

What's this "Princess Park" that people keep mentioning?? :?

I find it funny that those who are rallying to go back to the good old days don't even know the correct name of the hallowed turf.

I think a few people in this thread have little to no grasp of social media and how much of a necessity it is for most businesses.

The "neanderthal" denominator are the ones many businesses want the money from. Die hards will sign up every year pretty much regardless.

There's nothing wrong with a Facebook approach on this topic, and I doubt it's going to grace the powerpoint presentation when the club begins its bargaining.

Sticks: "If you turn to page 3, you'll see a girl with a rather nice selfie pic who really supports our push for games at the MCG."

THIS

Quite clearly they're reaching out toALL supporters for inclusiveness. Not just us diehard twats who have a login via membership.

Far more unique people login to Facebook regularly than jump on the Carlton website....

By all means use Facebook - but use it and twitter to direct the dumb cauliflower to the website.

Because THIS...Click 'Like' if you want more home games at the MCG or comment if you are happy with the current arrangement. isn't very well done. I thought we were past efforts like that. It's lazy. What I'm advocating is more along the lines of this...

'The club is lobbying the AFL for more games at the MCG from 2015 onwards. You can read Greg Swann's statement to supporters outlining the process and benefits via this link...

...and that link would be on the club website and the afl.com.au webite (same difference). More people see that than see the facebook page.

In my opinion it's a Facebook poll designed to do what fb does ... get an engagement.

I like that it's topical. It's about what CFC supporters are talking about right now. Who knows, people may see it as a reason to get a membership.

The calls to include an intro from Swann make sense IF this was a serious poll with a referendum-based outcome as its goal. But, it's not.

How many businesses in the world add posts/polls/'click like if you prefer our old recipe for chocolate' updates? Hint, all the ones that are using fb to their advantage.

This approach would certainly provide more valid stats.

Anyone can click 'like'. Takes a second. Only those that really care will read a statement on a website and vote based on the facts.

We'll end up with thousands clicking 'like' and not acting on it.

FWIW...I clicked 'like', without any valid facts, just based on the simple reasoning that I like the MCG better. Does it mean I'll buy a membership? Probably not, not far off MCC now.
