Fraser Murphy is listed as being a crowd favourite because he kicked crucial goals in tight matches.

Can you remember any of them? If so - opponent, match, scenario?

BUILD SOME SUSPENSE PEOPLE!

I have a memory of him running into an open goal to kick the sealer in a finals match in '87.

The winds of time have removed the details though.

1986 finals series vs Hawthorn - Mclure grabbed the ball out of the ruck, got tackled and the ball spilled free, Murphy volleyed the ball straight through from 25 metres out in the forward pocket

He snapped a goal in front of the Heatley Stand against North (87?) that put us back in front. The final siren went just as the ball landed in the crowd. Happy beers at the Rising Sun that night!!!!!!!

I vaguely remember Fraser Murphy... but not enough to contribute to this discussion though.

What I was going to say though was this... this is an excellent thread, and I look forward to may more thought-provoking Blueseum questions during the long off-season.

KK you could be right about the long quarter, I remember one of my mates cracked 'em and stormed out saying ''we're screwed see you at the pub. He walked down Richardson St almost to Lygon when he heard the almighty roar that only the Carlton crowd could provide.
But as far as Fraser or Bear kicking the goal, if I was a betting man( and the TAB is not foreign to me) I would back Fraser as our saviour that day.

If we are talking about the same game, mark spilled by sticks GLEESON roves and snaps truly from 15 metres out. I will be happy to bet you a talking carlton player sponsor thingy on it. Wasn't in 87' though it was 88 or 89.

I remember one day at waverly he saved us late in the last qtr against north. I can't remember which year it was, but we were up by a few points, and North were flying home and were rebounding from half back through the middle and had loose players everywhere. Murphy busted his backside and launched into the air to cut off a short pass, got back to his feet and tackled the North player and then ran the ball to the boundary on the member's wing. the siren sounded soon after. Although not a goal, he certainly saved the game for us.

KK , not sure of year but let's do the mirror job and look into it me thinks could be two different games . If so 2 great results instead of 1.

The main thing I remember about him was his burst of pace, and his legs pumping like little pistons when he ran.. Can hardly recall him ever kicking a set shot goal either lol :P

I remember running up to him and patting him on the back after a game at Waverley against Collingwood around 88/89.

I was amazed because I was actually taller than him at about 14 y/o :-D
