Split rounds are frustrating for fans and should only be used to give teams a rest. Wouldn't think they'd be needing a rest in round one, poor decision AFL :donk:

But anyway, go Blues!!!!!!!!

Not to mention those who rely on free to air television are getting royally flower screwed with this 4 games per round thing...

The reason for the split round is that the MCG (and I presume the SCG and Gabba) are unavailable until April as they are reserved in case the Sheffield Shield final needs to be played at the venue.

Hard to schedule 9 games of AFL on one weekend without the MCG. For a start Carl/Rich would have to be at Etihad.

Richmonds diabolical round 1 performances over an extended period were going to be noticed sooner or later.

..really?, from memory it was only '09 and '10 where we royally spanked them.. ..they beat us in '08, got close to us in '11 and only a 4th Q fade-out in '12 gave us an inflated margin..

Couldn't they just move the Crows v Bombers and Eagles v Dockers games back a week, aligning them with the other 7 games, and this wouldn't be an issue? Having 2 games a week early does not resolve the issue you're referring to.

I like the idea Richmond have lost the 'big stage' motivation.

Interesting start to the season - Richmond, Collingwood and Geelong in the first 3 rounds.
