Most coaches have the above, the bigger name the coach, the bigger pets or whipping boys often are too. I always think back to how hard Barassi was with guys like Blight, Greig, Flower etc yet he had his less talented faves as well. MM even has form on this, think L Brown as perfect example. So who do we think will be prospective candidates from our motley crue ? Easy first nomination as a pet has to be D Armfield, just for the upper lip covering. Easy first nomination for whipping boy is B Gibbs, coz most on Talking Carlton said so. And theyre NEVER wrong. And now for something completely different................... So should someone tweet MM to visit Talking Carlton ? |

Complete opposite for me 25. Gibbs = Number 1 son. He will go from zero to 5 star hero in about ten minutes under Mick. Simmo..Number 2. Not sure about whipping boys. I'd sure like to see none at all. |

He nominated four pets in his presser: Betts, Gibbs, Murphy and Simpson. As for whipping boys, how about: Waite, Warnock and Yarran? |

Pretty hard not to like the way Brock's gone about things. From where he was, (career all but over), to 39 possies in the last game is credit to him. You would think that sort of approach is going to go down well with any coach. |

If he is still at the club, Hampson would be the ideal whipping boy candidate. That fella needs some serious aggression in his game and a lazy whip here and there might just instil it! |

camelboy wrote: He nominated four pets in his presser: Betts, Gibbs, Murphy and Simpson. He had to be prompted to remember Kade Simpson, but still described him as a fine young man, quality football person etc etc. ![]() But a new coach could be just the thing for some of our 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players (or fringe players) - those that want to, need to make an impression or want the new coach to remember their names (for all the right reasons ![]() |

I expect we'll be seeing a less dashing runs from Yaz. He'll still be utilised in that way, of course, because it's his best asset, but he needs to learn when to take the game on and when to be conservative. I reckon Mick will tighten him up a little. |
