Quote: "I respect (Blues president) Stephen Kernahan enormously, we played against each other, and if he rang I would take his phone call and tell him what I've been telling other people - 'No'," Roos told the Herald Sun.

He's a bit new age for me, but I think I'd still prefer him over all others. He'd command the same level of respect as MM you'd reckon, and wouldn't bring as much baggage. Wouldn't piss McGuire off though. |

I think we have spies from the press watching us here. I used a throw away line that the club had a master plan and a surprise will be Sumich takes over.....I read it 2 days later in the paper as a possibility. God help us |

Synbad wrote: mm has been done..... the rest is window dressing.... I don't doubt it, but Ken was pretty firm on MM being second prize. I don't know who he knows at Carlton these days but he does rattle off a fair bit of Carlton related goss on Sat mornings on ABC local. O |

I'd love to see it happen as I believe he'd be a better coach second time around...but it won't happen. The Mathiesons and Pratts want it to happen too, but it won't happen. |

Roos would be my preference but the timing simply doesn't suit him. MM will be a fantastic coach for us. He is the right man at the right time. Im excited! ![]() |

I think that Roos is happy to be known as a premiership coach of the Swines and that's it. Doesn't seem to the type to want to get his hands too dirty starting over again.. |

Interesting debate. Plenty saying MM is washed up, and dismissing 2010 as a lifetime ago, and 2011 as a failure. Not a lot said about how Roos hasn't won a flag since 2005, failed to get his side past week 2 of the finals from 2007-2010 (missed in 2009) and then has spent 1 year longer out of the game..... He might easily be the best man for the job, but we can all spin statistics how we want to try and emphasise a point. |

We probably still judge him by his exploits in 2005-6 where he could have easily been a 2 time premiership coach and probably also by the performance of the Swans this year where Longmire has been coach for the last 2 seasons. That said, he did get high value from a moderate talent list and that is his strength. |

To add to that, Leigh Matthews had just the one flag did a few years On The Couch (nee Talking Footy) then came back and won three flags. Therefore Paul Roos at Carlton = three flags. ![]() |
