Wondering if someboday can confirm what options I have...

I've been sold a concession ticket to the game on Saturday but do not hold a concession card...

Do they check for concession on entry and if so am I able to pay the extra for a Adult ticket??

Probably get checked 1/5 times if that. Probably closer to 1 every 10 times.

Trick is to look for the least interested gate attendant and go through that gate and you'll be fine. You only have to worry about getting in the first gate they won't care at the aisle entries etc.

Etihad are like the Gestapo. MCG don't seem particularly worried. Just find a really busy turnstile to go through. When there's people everywhere they just want to get people through quickly.

If you decide not to run the risk you can easily upgrade your ticket. The only place you can do it is at the Ticketek windows at Gate 3 on the day of the game. Just explain you need to upgrade from a Concession to an Adult ticket and pay the difference in price. Ticketek then reissue the ticket. Simple. I did it for the Geelong v Hawthorn game the other week.

MW wasn't asked to show her student ID on the weekend when she entered with a concession ticket and the turnstiles were anything but busy.

Also, if you show a student card that expired a couple of years ago you'll get away with it

Not that I'd know

Never had a ticket checked in 55 years of going to the footy

Just scan the barcode at the gate and do a Johnnie Walker  The attendants couldn't give flying @#$%&!

Would not risk using anyone elses ticket in the MCC though :sly:

In the Southern stand, the turnstiles show adult or child ticket, not sure about concession.
If you walk in with a lot of people they won't stop you.
If they do, just say 'Oh damn, I knew Mick gave me the wrong ticket, this is his son's. They must have used mine already, they're inside". Then if pushed, you can ask if you can upgrade the ticket.

Friends were stopped at Etihad recently and tried the "oh i've got the wrong ticket line"
got donuts and refused entry.

the new turnstiles have 3 coloured lights
one for full, concession or kid.

So at Etihad you enter through the doorway left of the outdoor bar
They use hand held scanners that can't differentiate on the type of ticket.
i am sure there would be gates at the MCG that use hand held.
Find one and you're in

Thanks for all the advice...no dramas getting in....attendant wasn't even watching

Sounds like Etihad would be a different story though as stated with lights indicating a concession ticket and they enforce it there also...they should be thankful that anyone goes to that s&#thole at all

MCG, Gate 7 I believe use hand-helds. But only accessible to AFL Members I believe.
