With Carlton winning 5 out of 7 (since the bye) we have put ourselves in a position of making finals. Something we didn't think feasible 2 short weeks ago. With our expanding injury list after the bye, I personally thought we were shot. Since then kids have been blooded and Ratts has to be given credit for really turning our season around.

I personally believe that the playing list is playing for Ratts and you can sense it in the way Carlton has been playing lately. With talks of us signing Malthouse, Roos, Bomber etc, Ratts has done an incredible job of galvanizing the playing group and playing great football!

With two wins over the Magpies, Tigers and one hell of a win over Essendon*, I think with the team we have and the improvement of Bell, Casboult, McInness and White this team will MAKE finals this year, maybe shake up a few teams and hopefully deliver us a premiership in 2013!

Too many times this year Ratts has been our scapegoat! Let's galvanize as our players have and get behind our Coach! He is CARLTON! and so am I!

Go Blues!

Also 5/6 from the mortal enemies in Pies, Tigers, Bombers. That's something to smile about atleast.

Good on you Ratts.
Well done. Stick it up everyone, no matter if you stay or go.
Pretty on the inside, that's what counts.

5/7 you forgot one mortal enemy that I would like to sort out in round 23.

Ratts you are the Bill Hayden of Carlton but when you have got Bob HAwke in the wings, you make the change every time

There's plenty of threads for people to share their negative opinions on Ratten, let's keep this one up beat, okay.

:thanks:

Would love to, but really having a gut feel we play like top 4 the last 2 games and still miss out. Would really hurt.

My 3 biggest criticisms of Ratts have been:

1. Gibbs played defensively....appears to have been rectified with success
2. Too defensive...ditto, today at least
3. Kids not getting a run...forced on him somewhat, but now a success

Ratten is Carlton.
I want him to stay.
Remember how proud everyone was after the west coast near loss last year!
Malthouse is a fantastic coach but axing Ratts could tear and the very fabric of our club.
Ratts has the players. He should have our support to.

I like Brett Ratten...always have - but Ratts isn't Carlton. Carlton is all he knows. And one day he'll be told to go. When that happens is anyone's guess, but it happened to Jezza, Walls and others and didn't tear the 'very fabric of our club'. Take the emotion out of it. I haven't seen the game yet...but presume he coached well? Or did the opposition select some unfit players which hurt them? Bit of both? Not sure? Who knows?

Yep, Gibbs in the guts getting his hands dirty, that is what I like to see.

Ratts should definitely stay, he has been contracted for next year and the injuries have been unbelievable this season to our team. The game that sticks out in my mind is the one against the Western Bulldogs, it was basically a VFL team yet we still won - turning point in the season for mine.

Gibbs has the making to be the Rolls Royce in the middle we need to relieve Judd as he enters his 30's. imo, it's essential that Ratts has let him off the lead and thrown him in there. Could even be the difference between keeping his job & not?!

I'm backing Ratts after the last month. Players want to play for him, that much is clear, and he seems a little more willing in rolling the dice and backing our players, rather than the negative style which has dominated his last 5 years at the helm.

Improvement. Positive footy. Take some risks. And winning.

It's all we can ask for, and since the port game, ratten has mostly delivered it. Give him a full list, and I can see we are possibly top 4 material as currently constructed. The progression and development in uncovering Casboult, Bell, White and McInnes has been a big part of that.

He coached well, and un-Ratten like.

No negative roles. Threw our guns in the middle and said win your own ball, take these clowns head on and see where we stand at the end of the day. It was enlightening and delightful and the results spoke for themselves.

His structures were superb, the backline seemed to know their role and what was required and executed their game plan.

Suddenly our forward line looks hard to stop and balanced. Waite, Walker & Casboult offer so much. Betts barely had to get his hands dirty and could cash in on the crumbs. They way it should be.

The only forward line better than ours on yesterday's form that I've seen in the last month is north's. And what north did to collingwood last night, they are without a doubt the most improved team in the comp and there is no shame in losing to them with the list we had.

Big improvements.

Now the question is, can it be maintained and taken up a notch against top 4 teams?

Essendon* wore lead boots and we came to play.

We're all too happy to knock people when they're down, so it's nice to give them a pat on the back when things to come together and for that: Good for you Ratten.
What happens after today is a different story though.

We still haven't beaten anybody of substance outside of Collingwood, that's where Ratten should be judged, not these piss fart games against Bulldogs, Bombers, Gold Coast and Brisbane.

If we make the finals, Ratts can get my vote if he wins two finals. Injuries are no longer an excuse, he has a fit and performing team, of which the midfield and forward line is better than that we took to Perth last year. The defence if Jamo makes it back is only really missing Henderson/Laidler.

Stanton and Watson were manned up. As much as some may not like it, our structures were very similar to past weeks. Its more about recently returning players getting some continuity in their game. Plus the confidence that comes from quality conversion.
