NONE of The Three Amigos mind being called The Three Amigos. Eddie Betts was close to former Carlton player Setanta O'hAilpin, the son of a proud Irish nationalist and an indigenous Pacific islander. Setanta is one of the most potent names in Irish mythology. The Carlton fans called him Carlos because someone thought he looked Spanish. Similarly, the three indigenous players have become the football equivalent of a Mexican guitar band.

In fact, Carlton has four indigenous players - the Three Amigos plus Andrew Walker. Walker has been at the club longer than the rest. Does he mind not being counted as a member of the group? No, he says good-naturedly, that's their thing. He describes the trio as "cult heroes the supporters can enjoy".

The indigenous youngster was one of two Geelong Falcons drafted to Adelaide last year, with the other being the Crows’ prized recruit and his “gun” midfield teammate, Patrick Dangerfield.

Rookie Ed Curnow is also of Aboriginal heritage, but was absent from the ceremony because of personal reasons.

The Crows consciously recruited four indigenous players during the off-season, Jacky, Armstrong, Petrenko and Curnow, to give the club the second-highest number of indigenous players in the league.

“I’m proud of all the Aboriginal boys playing and in particular our blokes,” McLeod said.

“In my time, I’ve played with a few Aboriginal boys, but to be where we are now is a great reward to the fact that the club has got great service from some of their Aboriginal blokes.

“I guess that gives the club the confidence to employ some more. Hopefully, the next group or generation of boys coming through, like Jarrhan, Tony, Jared and Ed, can carry that legacy on and it might even open the door for a few more.”

I was also of the understanding that Curnow wasnt aboriginal, his name isnt highlighted on the Marngook footy show. Another blunder in the article is after saying that Garlett came over in 2009 a few paragraphs later tells the story of Garlett saying will play in round one, says it was 2005.

Has anyone else noticed that since Garlett and Yarran stopped wearing those bright lairy boots they have played much better? Just saying.

Can someone explain to me why everytime someone prints an article that doesnt paint CFC in a favourable light, the writer of said article all of a sudden becomes a "knob", or a "flower"? Seriously, any wonder this website is being frequented by less and less people all the time.
