Well, if ratten keeps winning he's our coach next year. Count on it.

Sticks is looking for every reason to keep him, and Ratts is giving him plenty.

Ratten has outcoached his opposite 2 weeks in a row. Made adjustments on the fly, made the right matchups and importantly has the guys playing for him.

He'll be hard to turf if that stays the same.

fwiw, I reckon all Ratten needs is a mentor to help with off field stuff and game day strategies & prep. He bleeds blue, and whoever comes in to replace him, won't be bleeding blue like Ratts does.

Ratten is slowly creating a culture here where everyone who puts on the guernsey is bleeding blue too.

Maybe Dean Laidley as game day mentor/advisor?

Laidley would be a better get. Director of coaching role perhaps like was speculated years ago?
And lastly, Malthouse won't be coach of the Blues in 2013. While Sticks is prez anyway...

Crane6 is reliable and has an excellent strike rate. He mentioned there are 3 they have their eye on - hope Brian Cook is one of those.

I hope Cook is one of them too Wangers. If I recall Dick Pratt said he would not do the wrong thing by the then Geelong president Frank Costa and approach Cook even though he was the best at the time. Frank Costa is not president now so I hope we have a good chat with Cook and entice him over.

Cook said on On the Couch that he's contracted for another 2 years and he's looking forward to finishing his working career with the Cats.

Cook has also made it known he would to rebuild another club, Carlton fits that criteria.

Personally I'm still sitting on the fence with Ratts.

I've read some good arguments against him being our coach next year.

However, one thing is apparent to me : he very much has the players with him,
(most of them anyway). That's worth something.

I'm 100% with you BK

Personally, i'm not averse to change, just sick of the constant vitriol directed at Ratts.

It's no way to treat a club legend, and i'm sure he's giving 110% in his role.

What will be, will be.
People with greater insight to the running of the club will sort it out.

Is that Malthouse's position, or Sticks' ?

I hadn't heard him say that.

He'd certainly know what works.

The time to get Cook was at the end of last year. Opportunity has passed now.

Time to look elsewhere rather than poaching from other clubs.

Robert Walls on SEN this morning made the odd comment that we should keep Ratten for next year as Paul Roos would be available the following year.

Going by what Doc has been saying, his son would have finished HSC.

Reliable poster on BF mentioned the same thing, re Roos being available in 2014.

So we'd have a situation where the club didn't think Ratts was the man to take us to a premiership, but they'd tread water and hang onto him for another season in the hope that Roos might be able to convince his missus to let him shift the family to melbourne in a year's time?

Sounds a bit silly to me.

(doesn't mean the board wouldn't think that's a great idea though)

Appears to me like a simple situation of roos stating no for 2013 but available 2014.
Ball back in cfc court.
