One of the positives of having so many injuries is the young players getting a game. Loved what i saw of Bell and Casboult was great all night. A good win, not much of a game but under the circumstances a job well done.

Your right Roy, I thought Jamo was great in last quarter. Shoulder not great and I don't think his back is all that good either.

Much better in the 2nd half. One of Garlett's best games this year. Some good passages from the young blokes but Casboult shouldn't be getting anymore than spot mins in the the ruck. Really impressed with McInnes thus far.

Awful to watch though. We're lucky the Bulldogs are deplorable.

Ratten: "Our pressure in the first half wasn't good enough. Yeah, they got a rocket in the rooms."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"Our run was terrific in the final quarter. Collins, McLean... I thought they were terrific. McInnes going forward was really good."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"Jeff really lifted and Tom Bell's first half was brilliant."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"I didn't feel the pressure this week. What a great opportunity it was for Murph to captain the team. He'll learn from tonight."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"Murph is a beauty. I love it how he's got a little nasty streak and a competitive spirit."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
Collins: "It was really enjoyable to play my part, but seeing the three debutants do so well was most pleasing."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"It's exciting. Every week is like a final for us."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
Ratten: "Collo's running ability is underrated. His confidence is growing and he'll be given a lot of opportunity in the next few weeks."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
Collins: "Yeah, I want to put in a good performance against my old teammates next week."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
Ratten: "It's heads down, bums up. I was really pleased with our leaders tonight. Bryce didn't have a great 1st quarter but really lifted."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"Mitch hurt his calf at training & I had to tell him that he was out. He doesn't like to hear the word "no", but we wanted to be cautious."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"Wherever we wind up at season's end, as a football club, we'll be much better for it. We want to be the best that we can."

Carlton FC ‏@Carlton_FC
"I won't compromise on that. Blokes who come in will be expected to step up."

Not a polished performance but that was the grunt that we've been missing for some time.

My highlights

McInness is a keeper, just does the right thing everytime.
Betts - matchwinner
Garlett - back i to what we expect from him.
Levi - Spalding like effort
Bell - drifted out of the game but if we name Robbo and Bell in the same side we'll be on the right track. Potentially (one of) the big bodied mid we are looking for.
Dale - timing.is.everything.
TBird - Was always my whipping boy but he has earned my respect. Contributed when asked again and again.

Getting something from our first gamers was a great thing.

Yes.

After watching VFL Finals last year and those many pack-crunching grabs then it's probably not hard to work out he was always going to eventually carry that to AFL level at some stage.

Well, the result shocked me! I never thought we'd get the chocolates. The side was so decimated and inexperienced you would think they would struggle. Those dishlickers are sh!thouse! Fancy losing to our VFL side!!!

Awesome win in the end, after an embarrassing first half. Watson going back and Thornton forward. Much better. More Intensity in the second half.

How do you win a game of AFL without a ruckman or a key forward?
the Dogs are pretty bad.

I went along with no expectations tonight other than hoping the new kids would show something.

And something they did.

I know I have said it before but please, please, please give these kids time to settle in before you write them off.

Collins and McInness can play this game. They just need a good run with no injuries and game time to find their rhythm and confidence.

Bell was recruited because he is a big bustling lad who has size, strength and pace to knock a few over. He's no world beater and he needs alot of work but he contests and plays footy the way you want it played i.e. hard and tough.

Levi has come so far from where he was in the TAC it was great to see him thrown in the deep end and do okay.

Well done to the boys and the Club.

Regards Cazzesman

for me scotland has to be the most consistent player on our list, how good has he been for us great game
gibbs has to play with some freedom, only way forward
watson always plays back
who was the dude on here that harped on and on about casboult , dude u were right, he reminds me abit of dawes
bell looks like a keeper, big bodied crash and bash, liked his game
betts was awesome, 1 min murphy is next to him bumping and scragging and 2 seconds later betts is kicking a goal, what a headache it would be to play on betts
carazzo, mcinnes,collins,mclean, yaz all productive
shit game to watch and how bad are the doggies and the commentators make me sick, too biased
