The rumour mongers are reporting it's a done deal. I'm taking it with the proverbial grain of salt for the moment.

Oh lordy lord. Unmitigated disaster. Malthouse the second.

That's the BIG fear isn't it... don't know I can go through that shit again...

Malthouse 2.0 .......spare me

Alistair Clarkson is a 4 time Premiership coach from the last 17 years.
He has just taken a bottom 4 list with injuries to 1 yes 1 less win then us.
It is absolutely different to why Mick came and coached us.
Malthouse coached on for all the wrong reasons.
Clarkson is still in the top 3 if not the best coach in the AFL.

We need to do everything we can to get Clarkson to coach our club.
This is our Ron Barassi moment in time.

OR and Barass are both on the ‘Clarkson is interested’ train, so I’ll go with that until more info comes out.

Mick's last two years at Collingwood was back to back grand finals, a premiership and a minor premiership.

Clarko is leaving a hawthorn where the real work and 5 years out in the wilderness beckons unless he pulls off a miracle and turns it around quickly.

For the record, we have two real options.

1. Extend Teague for 2 years giving him 3 more to go (doubtful, less than 5%).

2. Sack him and go with someone else.

Irrespective of where that sits with fans, I'm of the opinion that unless our club changes its ways and fully invests in the direction its going we aren't going to do much but more of the same for the next few years.

Mick's first year with us was an elimination final win does everyone remember that

For the record we have 2 real options you are correct:

1 - Sack him and hire Clarkson

2 - Sack him and hire Lyon

I can see this turning ugly. The club has clearly waited this long for the review to be announced so that they can get an answer from Clarkson. I understand it. It’s ugly but I understand it. Is it right? Probably not but we will all find out very very soon if it’s Lyon or Clarkson who will be our next coach.

Got in the 8 only because the drug cheats booted out. We finished 9th on the ladder not playing Mick's way and he took us backwards after that.

The other thing we need to remember is if he is interested, what does the AFL say about this.
They’ll find some way to block it.

Agreed, just meaning it’s gone from “already spoken to/giving us an answer” to “done deal” to “interested in hearing more” in that chronological order

All point to positive signs though

I agree.

The AFL will want Clarko at the Gold Coast. And they'll pay him big.
As they did with Matthews at Brisbane they helped to manufacture the success.

They tried to engineer Buddy going to GWS. GWS & Gold Coast are their teams.

I dont believe it. This footballers club has proven it can and will do it.

No one forecasted malthouse would take us backwards from ratten but he found a way.

Clarkson might very well yield better long term results but I imagine next year we could conceivably be worse with him at the helm and if not we could definitely go backwards the following year as our pea hearts jump out.

I doubt we’ll go backwards in 2022, whomever is head coach and head footy department, at worst we’ll remain at 8 to 10 games won.
A lot pending on composition of personal & scope of overhaul, trades & drafting too.
Irrespective of momentum forward , next couple of years will be tumultuous but it was painfully & urgently necessary. GoBaggers

This club has been going through a tumultuous period for the last 20 years

Extremely tired of our club being the exemplar for club in crisis and media fodder for the masses

This feels like Groundhog Day to me, so that excited for another change in coach
