I liked it.

He is being pro-active.

I wasnt angry so much as gutted after the crows game. I thought we were passed all this but I was wrong.

We have some serious mental demons that need adressing at the club. Mind the pun.

I know at this stage the email is just words but it made me feel a bit better hearing Rattz not hide from the issue and say changed will be made and these players will get a decent crack.

Thoughts?

I dont care what emotions he has, he is in charge of mounting a fightback and he needs to launch a counter attack with whatever gameplan and combination of players he chooses. If that fails then he has failed and a new direction will be taken in 2013....without him.

the mental demons stem from his single year as assistant there.
need him proactive on planning structures and executing them.

that's his job that's his task that's what he earns a living doing. or supposedly.

Make no mistake. There will be changes to the team confronting Melbourne at the MCG next Sunday.

Bottom line - if you can't win your own footy and you lose too many critical contests you can't play in our team.

I'm not altogether sure the replacements are necessarily ready, but I do know that if we put five, six, seven or eight games into them they will be ready - as opposed to those we've had to carry for a while.

Going into yesterday's game, I was under no illusions about Adelaide. Watching the Crows going around the previous weekend against Geelong at AAMI Stadium, I was so impressed with the way they ran both ways to create and cover and, on the flip side, the way they won the ball that was there to be won.

Yesterday, while I was reasonable happy with some of our work in the first quarter against a really good team, the Crows absolutely creamed us in their capacity to win the 50/50 ball and their work rate to get away from that was a lot more healthier than ours.

The Adelaide loss was of course compounded by the injury to Marc Murphy, and while a player of Marc's character cannot be replaced, his absence requires greater effort from everyone else to make a contest wherever and whenever they can.

It's about every other member of the group lifting a further two, three or five per cent to take up the slack without Marc - and I reckon that's what we need to do to become a better team, because at the moment we're isolated.

Melbourne poses a real danger, but then again every opposition team poses a danger. That's because the competition by its very nature is even and if you allow a team to have a crack at you they do.

As I said, there will be changes to the team line-up on Sunday, and there will be changes to the way we play

Interesting. Very out of character by Ratts to come out and write something like that.

Let's hope he puts his money where his mouth is at the selection table and send some strong messages.

It wasn't a membership blitz but rather his weekly from the coaches box email to members.

Talk is cheap - need to see a definitive/emphatic response and a game plan that won't be so easily worked out.

only Brock can win a contested ball in the reserves.

but we do have many flanker types down there!
so you would have to think this was not factored into at all by the brain surgeons.

then you ask if they put any true work into in close work while opposition teams allowed us to play an outside game!

sure if is threatening players now.

but it's his team! his responsibility!

he cannot escape from that now!

top four finish!

All credit to the guy for sticking to his guns but I am not sure Brock is the fire breathing battering ram that some are expecting. He might have a bit more meat on the bones than Buckley and Bootsma but I dont remember him being any more effective inside than somebody like Ellard.

I'll wait until at least 6.25pm on Thursday before taking any notice, and more likely it will be Friday evening when the final Sunday teams are named...

I hope the remainder lift 5% each rather than 2%, or we will be 60% short.

The way teams play us there is no outside except HBFs.

I dont mind Brock in and i dont mind Judd inside. We have to engage in the fight and not continue to play it the way we have done for 2 years.

Three options i feel.

- Find a bunch of blokes that win the contests easy enough that we can run it the way we want.

- Get better at engaging in the congested slog and see if this lets us outscore the opposition.

- Set up in a way where we know we are going to lose the contested ball but because of our set up we can get it back further afield then rebound. Total shift in game style.
