Pros
- 10 goal+ margin
- Robbo, Hammer, Bower
- Bootsma/crowd involvement
- Ratten clearly unimpressed with our effort

Cons
- Piss poor 4 qtr effort (except for first three guys named above)
- Betts/Garlett virtually no impact
- A few displays of frustration from Garlett (and possibly others)
- Gibbs treading water
- Ellard, have we already seen the best of him?
- Goalkicking
- Unable to "switch on" against vastly less experienced/immature team
- Took a fade out from them for us to build the margin
- Monday night football next up

Post subject:  Re: R6: Pros & Cons

pros:
Our crowd figures at these sort of games is outstanding
GWS are as crap as I thought they were - won't win a game this year
One goal scored against us in a half of footy, against our b graders

Cons:
weren't switched on
took it too lightly
lack of leadership
should have won by 150

Haven't seen the game yet.

Pros
Percentage, 4pts, Apparently Jamo into some form for the Saints along with Bower, no injuries.

Cons
No idea. But I was expecting a flat start to be honest.

Are you saying that their more-than-decent first half was just a result of our poor play? I thought they played some pretty good footy.

it was our pre season form all over again, their 'good footy' equals other teams bad footy

Not much love for Joseph on here. I'm not a big fan but he was one of the only ones prepared to give any run in the first half when we were flatter than a really flat thing.

Pros:- Got percentage.
- won the last two weeks when we haven't one the clearances. Previously losing clearances meant we lose the game. To lose the clearances and only allow 33 inside 50's means we are doing something right somewhere. Cant remember too many forward 50 pack marks against us this year.
- Game into fringe players
- We are now well placed to really hit the ground running Monday week and i am expecting good games from the blues over the next month. Fitness was surely designed to peak during the next block of games and i believe todays flatness and last weeks fade out was a result of that plan.

Cons:- Lost the clearances
- Fringe players not really putting their hands up for a spot.
- Poor game from the forward i saw in Red Rooster on Thurs. Thought he would have been on the low GI stuff at that time of the week/season.

Pros:

Last quarter.
Keeping them to a low score and getting a decent percentage boost, despite not playing all that well.
Hammer and Simmo. Really sparked us in the last quarter.
Jamo, Henderson and Bower.
Lucas kicked another couple of goals.
Nice to finally see Bootsma play.
I thought Russell was a little better today.

Cons:

First 3 quarters. Intensity was way down. Smashed in the clearances. Didn't run hard enough. Fumbled and turned the ball over.
Our conversion rate at Etihad must be the worst in the competition over recent years.
I like Duigan, but he's battling at the moment. Probably needs a run in the 2s.
Joseph tried hard, but can't afford to turn the ball over as often as he does.

PROS
11 goal win
No injuries
Jamo
Pauly Bower
Boooootsma!

CONS
Intensity
Skills
Goal kicking :banghead: Should have won by 100
Setanta's knee
Bootsma not kicking a goal
Tuohy, Ellard
No goals for Eddie
Kicking inside 50

Post subject:  Re: R6: Pros & Cons

Pros:
- 4 points
- Good %
- Robbo, Jamo, Hammer, Kreuz played 4 qtrs
- Bootsma debut
- Last qtr (we planted the foot when we needed to - strategy to not run as hard for preservation of energy)
- Ins to come - Waite, Judd, Curnow, Yarran
- No injuries

Cons:
- Smashed at clearances

We planned to only play one to two qtrs, at most, of hard uncompromising football as part of our list management strategy. No one can say GWS were ever going to threathen leading and defeating us - except for that fool David King at half time.
Carrazzo is a big loss to the midfield, but we need to find the right blend of players who can cover - that's what good sides do.
We move onto our next opponent and get our heads right for that game.

Because the AFL is a tough gig week in week out. And when you are about to play a group of 18yr olds you mentally detune somewhat. It is human nature. As a result the youthful exuberance of the 18yr olds, who are full of run for a half and who are told to play man on man while they can keep up, will always make it hard to find space.

And that's what happened.

As I had hoped for a 6 gl win the 10 gls was better and Bower and Jamo looked excellent. No injuries was a huge bonus.

Thanks.

I can cope with the human nature slacking off bit. But IMO it took too long to put things right. Way too long.
