Some TC'ers might be aware of the Spirit of Carlton (SOC) group that has been around for a couple of years now.

For those that do not know it began in the dark days of 2006 when a group of past players decided to form a group to bring some of the true Carlton spirit back into the club which at that stage was in need of some TLC.

Since then the SOC has merged with the Carlton past players association and it is now the primary group for past and present players.

The point of this thread is to announce that the SOC has launched a new website which can be found at:

http://www.spiritofcarlton.com

The group uses it's fundraising to purchase equipment for the current playing group, it will also be involved with rehabilitation services for past players suffering chronic playing related injuries.

Hi, can you please provide more detail on this ie do you need to wear corporate clobber?

Quote:
For every Carlton home game (excluding round 7, Gold Coast venue), paid up Spirit Of Carlton – Past & Present members will receive access to an allocation of tickets. These tickets include admission to the ground, an allocated seat and entry to a privately catered corporate facility.

Thanks

Hi Lowey_47,

The dress code for the SOC room and seats is smart casual. So no suits required.

What is the expections of being a member of Spirit of Carlton?

What does the spirit regard as passionate Carlton supporters?

as i believe being a passionate carlton supporter can be just about any supporter at the level they choose..

The reason i am asking this I love the Carlton football club i love the history of the club and love being a member of Carlton wether it be just a silver member or a cotterie member regardless i will always be a member..i also wouldnt mind being apart of spirit of Carlton if i was able to feel comfortable as to what the expections are of a passionate supporter

cheers

Hi OZ,

The SOC do not have anything particularly specific in mind when referring to passionate supporters on the website.

Quite simply anyone who loves the Carlton Football Club. The SOC is endeavouring to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

It is hoped that providing an environment where past players/officials and supporters can get together and talk Carlton will be a positive influence on the spirit of the club community.

Hi SOC

Thanks for answering.

Another question. Do you need to be a member of Carlton to be a SOC member? The only reason I ask is that I was thinking of getting membership for my old man for his birthday. He is a reasonably heavy hitter in the corporate world, however, I am not sure if he is currently a Carlton member. An absolute disgrace I know...

There is no need to have a CFC membership in order to get a Spirit of Carlton membership.

Sounds like a great birthday present.

I went yesterday to Etihad Stadium to celebrate the 1972 premiership & 30 year anniversary of the '79 flag.

On stage they brought up Trevor Keogh, Wayne Harmes, Ken Sheldon, David McKay & Jezza with Stephen Phillips & Mike Sheahan asking questions about the day.

They all talked about how hard the training was, if it didn't rain & make he MCG a bog heap we would of smashed them as the pies were are team of goers. The conditions brought the Blues back to the field, but my favourite moment was Jezza telling the story when he woke up on the Saturday morning of the game holding his 4 month year daughter on his balcony in his CFC shirt he looked up to the sky saw it was raining & out of nowhere a magpie shit on his shirt, Jezza looked @ the magpie & said that was the last time that was going to happen today

There was much more as i come to think of more things i will post or if people want ask questions i will try to answer!
