Today our club got majorly screwed. With no Vaseline.

It was a test of our maturity and we failed miserably.

Gutted.

Dear AFL,

Can we please not play Essendon* in Round 3 or 4, the only time of the year they are up and running and we seem to be flat. Can we play then at about Round 8 or 9 when they have inevitably turned to sh1t as they do each year.

Tough loss to swallow because I don't see their class.

I was shocked that they smashed us in the ruck. Centre square work was not flash.

Not a bad loss in terms of getting players to switch back on -- too many talking to the press and perhaps getting ahead of themselves.

Carrazzo was a big loss.

Not a cause for panic stations just yet but you would hope the Club responds after such a terrible loss with a good showing in Perth.

I backed the bombers @ $7

With my winning, I'm gonna buy $200 worth of tampons and send em to the footy club cause clearly, after that effort today, they are all a bunch of girls......

(sorry to all the ladies on TC)

That was a god damn joke!!!!!

Absolutely awful display. Didn't think we were capable of playing that badly. Injuries obviously didn't help. But the amount of fumbling and putting yourself under pressure and then giving the ball directly back to the opposition was astounding. Would have won the game easily if our last quarter intensity had been matched earlier in the game.

Well said.

Better to cop a hiding like that early in the year and remind our blokes you need to be switched on all the time.

We showed no real desire or urgency today. That was the most perplexing thing.

Not sure how Simmo racked up the stats, I thought he looked flat most of the game. There were a few chases he could have put in more effort for I thought.

I am hoping today was an aberration. The talk up over the week was embarrassing. We have done nothing yet and were considered to be premiership favourites. The talk about resting players was arrogant and stupid. Let's hope this is the jolt we need to get back to reality.

We failed the test but we can fight back.

If we didnt learn last year we certainly have to believe it the case this year. If we dont turn up to win the clearances and at the very least put heat on the ball if we lose the clearance we will get opened up.
Losing Carazzo in the first 5 mins didnt help but you would have thought with Brock replacing him we would be good enough to take care of business. Unfortunately playing both Brock and Curnow leaves too big a holes in our defense.

Overall we played with a total lack of energy.

Well done to the dons. It went their way today. We will get them later in the year.

It would be pretty obvious to the players and coaches where they went wrong today so lets hope after a quick review we learn what we can and move on to the dockers.

Our overall list health is all of a sudden looking shaky.

When your seven goals down why do you let the other team have an extra man in defense?
Duigan not up to speed, Jeff needs to be more than just a couple opportunistic goals, but Waite the worst. Hard to see us winning a flag when we have an unreliable key fwd. Simpson another who is a consistent poor kick for goal. We could have pinched it today had we not had such poor kicks for goal

Welcome one and all to the ebb and flow of footy!

Enjoy the ride. September is miles away.

If you haven't worked us out already you haven't been watching enough of us play.

Our game style requires a high intensity, the moment we don't bring it we will get found out on the break and be scored against easily.

The Bombers and North both played numbers around the contest, that's fine, but not fine when we're half arsed.

Today's game pattern was so predictable.

I guess one positive is that Lloyd looks a bit silly.
(but not as silly as many of us....)

There is no excuse for being out worked, for being outrun, for being second to the ball and for lack of any defensive intensity at all.

No excuses today. We were insipid.

Legitimate premiership contenders don't let the above happen like we did today. A major failure of our mental maturity.

I'm not one for the 'wake up call we needed'. IMHO that's a cop out and we must aim to be way above that.

We cant seem to be able to win blocks of games - we get to three in a row and fall over we have been doing it for the last 2 years

If we are going to push for a flag we need to be able to string 5 -6 games in a row

we now go to perth with no carrots curnow yarren and most likely laidler

Depends what we were doing with our spare man. If he was used at the stoppages then that would be a smart move as we were getting killed at them. Could be how we had a better last quarter.
If we used the spare as a spare in our defence allowing them a spare in ours while being seven goals down then that would be confusing.

They played Carlton 2012 style of footy better than us.

Injuries to Carrots; Curnow; Laidler, and Yarran compound the loss.

Once again; a lot of very easy gimme goals under no pressure missed....why?

I haven't been happy with all of the ''Flag Favourites'' crap this week; and all of this showed today, with us being second to the ball...........anyway.....can't win 'em all....look at 1995....

Just back from a long, long walk. Glass half full - a loss like that now could be the makings of our side this year. Maybe we all got a little bit ahead of ourselves. Now for Freo.

Hate losing to Essendon*. Killed at the centre clearances and at stoppages. Too many turnovers. Didn't take advantage of momentum we had in third quarter because of woeful set shot kicking for goal. MUST take advantage of the tide when ball bounces our way.

Ashamed of myself because I left at 3/4 time like a weak prick. But I was going to punch someone.

Still 3 and 1. Would have taken that at the start of the year. But didn't expect the loss would be to Essendon*

Out coached, squashed up the clearances.. And we had no answer. Under pressure we are still mentally weak. It is only April, but the blueprint to beat us is now for all to see.
Time to earn your money.. Yes you players and coaches cause today was simply pathetic.. Not worthy of the jumper
