Post subject:  Kreuzer: where will he rate against the greats?

We've had some great ruckmen over the years, but after watching Krooooze tonight, I can't help but wonder how we'll rate him in ten years time.

He's only 22, so still has much improvement in him, yet he is influencing games now as if he's in his mid-to-late twenties.

John Nicholls will always hold a special place in our club's history, and 'Harry' Madden willnalways be a favourite of mine, but something tells me we maybe going to speak in the same reverent tones about our current star in years to come.

He's got to sign a contract extension first....

If he progresses will be an absolute match winner. Gun.

Will finish off as a 200+ player with a few premierships and a place in the Carlton Team of the Century....

He is also below Vickery and will have a slightly above Josh Fraser type career.

The amount other clubs talk him down speaks volumes about how good they know he is and can be. If he was as average as they claim they wouldn't talk about him so much.

In response to the original question, barring injury he will play over 200 games, and be a Carlton great, no doubt. Love the way he goes about it, so tough and hard at it, and can see him developing into an on field leader, more so by example.

I want to go on record and say I was wrong about Kreuzer - he hasn't lost the spring/leap that I thought he never had.

Needs a wee bit of composure as he should have gone back to take the kick after marketing in the square and letting that fat @#$%&! Harry O tackle him.

Only 22 so time is on his side. No predictions at this stage but he has a heart as big as phar lap so will be a gun.

Kruez would have more composure than 90% of our list. 1 mistake per year is permissable.

Agree BV. Not just composure but thinking afew steps ahead of everyone else and playing to team advantage. His knock-ons and punches and shepherds are really worth a highlights reel on their own and best to see during a live fixture; there must have been 5 or so last night and 3 goals (at least) came from them.

In terms of obvious stats his ruckwork, taps to advantage and clearance work were very impressive last night. To me it's still his contested ball "panic" around midfield congestion that sets him apart from ruckman. Commetti will get excited about NicNat's second efforts (and rightly so) but Kreuzer's third and fourth and blocking and tackles and filling space are just awesome to watch. The man gets around, thinks, puts his body on the line then wins his position. The not-goal was a mistake and I think a goal or two would have been a fitting end to a BOG performance for mine.

The greatest player to pull on the old dark navy blue without a doubt is "Big Nick"........No doubt,Kruez is gonna get very close to the big bloke.Magnificent young player.

I really don't like threads like this. He hasn't done a thing yet. You should only make such a thread when he's later in his career and has achieved a lot. Just stupid doing it now.
Are you a clairvoyant? Ridiculous

Kruezer did say on radio on Saturday that if he is in that position again that he will go back and have a shot.
