Two extra days rest than them shouldn't do any harm.

This is the type of game we should win comfortably if we're to be a genuine premiership contender.

Brisbane haven't made any startling recruitments to suggest they'll be a significantly better side this year, and our team should be improved with the outing against the Tiggers.

Whilst I may have been a huge fan of Michael Voss as a player, it will be great to see him put under the pump after we punish his side by more than ten goals.

Looking like a pretty easy game now, especially with JB out.
Can't wait to see Hammer again. If goose plays on him its a chance for another massive confidence booster.
I want to see a full game from Lucas.
Will Jamo/Duigan play? I think walker will still be a couple of weeks away. I don't think warnock will get a gig after the 2 big fellas efforts tonight

Assuming the Bullants line up as selected on Saturday, and I think Waite will be facing a week on the sidelines:

In: Duigan, Jamison
Out: Russell, Waite (susp)

If Waite is cleared, I'd be inclined to give Jamo another week to get right. Brisbane's forward line not exactly tall without Brown. No point dropping Bower after one week, Thornton offers too much flexibility, and Hampson had a decent game.

If Duigan still needs another week, I'd probably go no change. Would like to see Lucas get a full game, but don't think giving Russ the subs vest is the right way to go in seeing if he still has what it takes to play at AFL level. Maybe Tuohy as sub?

Agree with this. Lucas earned a spot in next weeks 21. Give Zac the vest.

Don't think Waite will go. Tried to tackle and was head butted.

The Waite report, I'd consider reckless, high contact and low impact. In which case its 225 points. 45 points loading = 2 weeks and 70 carry over points.

If they can downgrade it to negligent, high contact and low impact, its 1 week and 37 carry over points.

http://mm.afl.com.au/Portals/0/afl_docs ... 2011-1.pdf mentions that if the impact is to the head, they may choose to increase the severity of impact.

Worst case scenario, you're looking at reckless, medium impact and high contact, its 3 weeks and 67 carry over points.

Reckon it will be thrown out.
He would be really stiff to go for that.

If they can successfully argue he had no other option but to attack the ball/player as he did, great. I saw it as a standard sloppy Waite tackle that was late, ill timed and high contact.

Don't think its a justified suspension, but ever since the Long/Simmonds bump in 2000, the AFL have and will crack down on head high bumps on the player with his head over the ball. It's a soccer mum killer.

Duigan is probably 2-3 weeks away, even if he resumes this week in the VFL. Jamison is a 50/50 chance for this game at this stage. I'd err on the side of caution with both, and perhaps consider Brock if we feel we need the help at clearances.

Not sure on Tuohy for the sub vest. Sub should be used to spell a midfielder each week if we're serious about a rotation policy.

If Jamison is fit, Thornton should be dropped (let's face it, he's out when Walker returns), and Russell would go for Duigan.

In: McLean
Out: Russell

I don't think we lose anything by that change, and gain plenty.

Who would you have as the sub, Jimmae? Curnow? Armfield? Lucas again?

Any small but Lucas, if we're serious about the rotation policy. Armfield would be the same logic that had you guys opting for Tuohy.

Richmond made their sub half way through the third quarter; we subbed our bloke in early in the fourth. I'd like to think we delayed it to see out the last embers of a Richmond comeback, but I'm not sure on that.

No need to take Duigan and Jamo to Brisbane even if okay. This is a long season. Give them half a game in the NB to ease into it.

I think Waite will be okay.

Lucas to come into 21 for Russell and Davies as sub.

So if Waite does get a week, where do we all stand?

Jamo brought back early, or do we give Rowe a game, despite looking fairly underdone himself? Or do Watson or White have a chance?

I'd either bring in Rowe if Jamo doesn't play.

If Jamo plays, release Hendo up forward.

Agree with the latter, but I'd probably use Hendo up forward still if there was no Jamo, and bring in ether Davies or McCarthy as defensive cover, which leaves Thornton to go to whichever end of the ground he's needed.

Gee I am on a different page than you guys. We won't be bringing McLean in. He couldn't get a game this week after a good pre season, why will he get one next week? And Rowe will only get a game if we have injuries. Surely he is on the list as a back up forward and fourth ruckman if we need injury cover. Hendo has been great down back. Gun CHBs are hard to come by, leave him down back. I can't see Rowe Hammo and Big K lining up in the one side. If JR is dropped (and I'd be giving him time in the 1s to find his 2010 form) then I'd bring in Collins not McLean

What would Collins do exactly Gerry? What does he add to the side?

Anyone from Melb heading up for the game???

I am actually in QLD for the weekend but staying on the Gold Coast. Still tossing up if I will make the trip to the Gabba or simply watch it on Tele while having a few cold ones.

Leaning towards the latter at this stage.....

It's probably a 90 minute trip on public transport, one-way. If you've hired a car, it's an hour.
