we will be tested inside
by their inside midfielders
blokes like swallow and co always do well against our soft underbelly of inside midfield depth

Swallow has played one good game against us (last year). Didn't have much support either from memory despite their such great midfield depth?

The time before we got monstered by their bigger backmen, as well as the Lindsay Thomas clinic.

The game before we also won.

And prior to that is 2008 and back and hardly relevant...

In fact one of Nth's problems over the years has been in their midfield in that they have no ball carriers/line breakers and are too one paced.

Regardless of whether their inside, outside or mother @#$%&! westside, you'd hope that Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Scotland, Robinson, Carrazzo as well as more miles into Judd, and as well as Walker who can rotate through threre, should make a difference this week.

Light beer has a better kick than Swallow.

Most of our kids have by now had a small taste of senior footy so I'd be expecting our full line-up to be out there on Sunday in a full on dress rehearsal for R1 - expecting to see some serious intent

Do you ever have anything positive to say?

Don't answer that.

Its all gets down to winning flags and beinga succesful footy club again.
Line in the sand stuff is whats needed at this club.
Out with the mediocre ..which we hold onto so hard like Linus holds his blanket.

The more excuses we come up with the more mediocre is ok.

We need to hold onto those excuses and baby steps to not expose us as under achievers!

Depending on how you view this i suppose it can be construed as a negative to some.
It makes them feel better ....

To me i like a Carlton that takes no prisoners.. that has teeth!!!...thats feared!!!

Ten years on and we got knocked out by reining weooden spooners and won our first finals game against a crappy Essendon* and think were coming....

Its all about perspective.!!!
you dont love Carlton more than i do because you are a bottom pit of excuses and tolerance for under achivement!!

Its as simple as that!!!

I think some of you guys are extremely negative to the CFC being succesful...you have no goals or markers... happy to drift along in space as long as we arent being belted and as long as you can dream a flag.

Lets see how we go again this year...
More gently gently i reckon...the barbarians are already at the door!!!... theyre gunna overrun us at this pace!!

Although it seems plain weird for me to speak for the majority on anything, I think most of us just accept what we get. Because when it comes to the CFC, we don't really have much of a choice really.

What's the point of setting goals if you have no actual means to achieve them? It's completely out of our hands.

maybe... but never ask a question you dont want to hear the answer to ....

So maybe take your grudges over there.....

Asking a question and then saying dont answer is a 0-0 draw and an insight into the way some people think.
Having people condone that and supporting it kind of answers more questions about the mindsets

anyway thats just me playing amateur psychologist and building a profile on who the current carlton supporter is and their pretty mediocre expectations .

You can find out all about it when you delve into the history of StKilda and the Bulldogs... as well as Melbourne FC post Barrassi

It sounds a little like the chicken or the egg.
Did St Kilda and Bulldog supporters initially have low expectations, which supposedly lead to limited onfield success.
Or was it the lack of success which resulted in them having mediocre expectations?
Do supporters expectations have a direct correlation to their respective clubs results?

Post subject:  Re: P/S Rd 4: Carlton vs North (Pre-Match Discussion)

It's not about expectations at all. I just find it odd that a post in a Carl vs Norf preseason game thread would immediately focus on a negative.

An alternative would be...Norf will beat us inside, but beyond that our midfield depth will more than have them covered, just like it did last year. Swallow bog, Carlton win.

Good idea, give him the opportunity to hijack another thread.

Lets move on and discuss next Sundays game rather than how bad Ratts, Sticks and our recruiters are.
