Glad to see the title change. Could have chosen to not get involved, ala Fitzpatrick. Instead did. At the worst possible time. Regardless of the outcome, will always have my respect for putting the hand up. |

Once had a flight from Launceston to Melbourne delayed. Introduced myself to Ian and had a detailed chat about what I was working on at the time (AFL Football in Tasmania related). He didn't have to talk to me, nor approach me at the baggage claim on arrival to wish me luck and shake hands. Those small things go a long way to show the character of a man - and although 'retired'...Ian could command plenty as a consultant. Agree with C-Man....a book would be good. Very good. |

Sorry, I don't buy it. I can accept the idea that Ian Collins would have had a vested interest in a move to Telstra Dome, however, given the offer the MCG gave us at the time and pressure from the AFL to leave PP, I'm sure we would have ended up there anyway whether he took over as President or not. I know its your thing to hold on to this 10 years later, and you like discussing it, but really, mate, it's neither here nor there. Former player, administrator and President. Should be enough to give him the respect of holding your personal opinion to yourself, I'd hope. |

When Collo was running for President, I put in a call to him to ask his views and intentions on several issues. He wasn't in when I called, but he returned my call, and spent more than 20 minutes talking to me in depth, politely and with great passion for the club. That impressed me at the time, and still does today. Collo was in one of the least enviable positions someone could find themselves in. The admin equivalent of taking over as coach after Terry Wallace leaves. I don't see him as having conflict of interest with the Docklands move, more competing interests, and like Rhino says, I don't think his involvement would have made any difference to where the AFL moved the Club's home. Given how bad the Docklands development is, how poorly it was designed and carried out, he's done a magnificent job to stop it being a laughing stock among international sporting venues. |

Did you do you do the old "why aren't the blues taking advantage of the Sydney market bit?". That always impresses Carlton presidents I've heard. |
