It will prove very wise indeed to train in these hot conditions |

Great photos, idyllic surrounds, wonderful bonding opportunity for the team, and some nice uninterrupted training free of the usual day to day distractions of home. Wish I was there with them. Thanks for the link BV. Dont buy the physical benefit of high altitude simulation over there at all. Need continual weeks at high altitude to stimulate erthropoietin release, increased haemoglobin concentration and improved oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. Even if they spent weeks at high altitude continuously their haemoglobin levels would drop back to normal within weeks of return to sea level. Great for distance runners peaking for a race, but will not benefit our team physiologically for even the start of the NAB cup let alone the season proper. However if they believe something is happening maybe the psychological benefits will be worthwhile. |

I think it's about using those short-term benefits to max out pain, cardiovascular, VO2 and muscle fatigue thresholds. |

What about if the players felt they were fitter because of Abu Dhabi? What about if psychologically they thought they had a better preparation than ever? Would that not give a benefit? |

I'm pretty sure 3 questions in one post is against the guidelines. (Not to mention my average concentration span) |
