Quote:
“I think if I was still at Carlton we would be playing on Saturday,” Fevola said yesterday.

“And if (Eagles forward) Josh Kennedy was playing there they would be playing on Saturday.”

If Kennedy was at the club and thus Judd was not, would the Blues be in a better position? My opinion is no.

Can someone shut this fool up??

He had more than a decent go at AFL level...TWICE...not to mention the several chances he got to redeem himself. Two more goes and several more chances than most people get with anything they ever do in life.

Yesterday's news.

The only way we would have got Judd and Kennedy in the same team was dashed by Fev! Weagles didn't want him!

Fev still in our team, our team culture would be poorer and so perhaps would be our results.

Plus we wouldn't have a new CHB for the next ten years! (and Kane Lucas who is a potential talent).

Stats show that we kick more goals with our current set-up than we did when it was all about Fev kicking 80-90 goals a year. I agree that we need a key forward, but not Fevola. Fev would only run, chase, and tackle if it suited him to do so more often than not. Look at when he was stranded on 99 goals and the Hawks were playing keepings-off in defence. Never seen him chase harder or pressure the defenders as much.

He's spruiking the old lines of "My gambling is under control, so is the drinking, I've changed..." and all that rubbish we heard for years when he'd stuff up with our club and he'd be thrown another chance.

For mine it looks like the last few years have come back and hit him at once, of how he'd thrown so much away with all the talent and potential in the world. All he has now of his AFL career are memories that he's holding onto for dear life and the hope that someone will fall for him once more. He is playing good footy in the VFL, and should be happy that he even made it back that far. It has been a great effort on his part, and he should remember that the chances he's had with his footy are only ever a dream in the minds of a lot of other people. Hell, his VFL career is even a pipedream for a lot of people. Fev needs to get over himself and look at what he's got, what he had, and how lucky he is. Brendan was lucky to have had footy to put him back into line (somewhat), while there are thousands out there who fall by the way-side and simply don't have the support that he has had, which results in an even further fall.

Needs to take a good look around at how good the world has been to him thus far. Footy owes him nothing.

Me too. Serves him right for that 'point shave' against Hawthorn that ended up costing us the game.

Whether we like it or not, he is right.
Had Fev been playing, we would have been in the preliminary final - and who knows from there.

Explain that theory to me. We are scoring more goals now than we were when Fev is around. He doesn't magically add three goals a game to our score. Those three goals will come at the expense of someone else kicking them.

meh - a fit Waite, Kreuzer and Gibbs = Grand Final

Our team is a better and happier group without Fev

I'd like to know how having Fev in the side would have made up for Jamo and Kreuzer missing half a season each.

FWIW, I agree with him on the surface. The fact that we didn't have always have a consistent key forward that would bag goals in our forward 50 cost us key games through the season.

I say that without reading the article, but given that he said either he or Kennedy would have made the difference seems to suggest that's the point he's making. If people want to take it out of context then go nuts.

Don't worry about home and away stats footy is lot more contested in finals making the KP forward alot more important. Without those it's alot more difficult for the small forwards, who kicked the bulk of our goals, due to a lack of space. We had a beauty in the EF with Thornton but had none virtually in the SF. Waite in the SF would've been enough let alone Fev. Even if we had've got that free kick and won it would've got harder again without a KP forward. Make no mistake Fev would've been very useful as we progressed. So would Waite and Kreuzer.

Fev kicking 90 goals may have been too one-man centric. Fev, being a less centric target, kicking 60-65 with a good contribution from the smalls and Waite then there's probably that couple of goals you're talking about. Then again Waite, Thornton and Kreuzer, fit and all on the park at the same time, with the smaller forwards will bring alot of more goals. What I'm saying, Fev or not, the KP players will add more to the scoreboard.

We may have a similar amount goals too 2009 because both individuals and the team is better too overall and a KP target may just improve that again. Probably a certainty given we were playing with hardly any in the last 6 weeks. Many reasons.
