Kim Hagdorn's hit:miss ratio has been well skewed towards miss with recent coaching news/gossip.

In his latest piece he says "highly regarded current Carlton senior assistant Alan Richardson is also a top candidate."

Firstly, do we give this any merit?

Secondly, do we care if Richardson was not part of our coaching panel in 2012?

Without inside knowledge, one would assume that the new additions to our coaching panel have settled the structure down beautifully.
Would be doing everything to keep Richo on board.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for his name to be mentioned. Would hate to lose him, and hope the club does everything to convince him to stay. But if he's offered a senior gig, even at a rabble like the Aints, he'd be mad to turn it down and our efforts would be in vain.

Yep, I tend to agree. As far as the coaching panel goes 2012 should be a year of consolidation IMO.

Money wise StKilda are apparently struggling - maybe he'd be currently on more than StKilda are prepared to pay ?

Hagdorn is Perths version of Hutchy, he's just been doing it longer.

I've no doubt Richo is on the radar, as he should be.

Hope he stays with us until we win a flag, but the pay difference is about $500-600K so if the position is there, he'll take it.

With the appintments thus far, they have been low-profile experienced assistants who have had long apprenticeships.
Last night after Sanderson went to Adelaide, the frst thing I thought was St Kilda would take Alan Richardson. He's the next logical choice.
These guys are "AFL ready" whereas someone like Scott Burns wouldn't know how to manage a team of coaches, look after recruiting needs, worry about contracts. Not saing these guys have al done that but they would have absorbed a lot of this stuff over the years and have been working on their coaching model for years probably.

Well, according to Sportsbet Richardson is at $34 for the job. Even SOS is shorter at $17. Maybe if SOS became coach he’d name Robert Harvey as the next Saints captain? He obviously still rates him a good player.

Odds for coaching appointments tend to be random at best

We should move heaven and earth to ensure we retain Alan Richardson.

Even if that means SOS coach St. Kilda.

And dont worry Jack, Ben and Tom will play for Carlton if they are good enough.

Not to mention what it'd do to poor Melv's if we were to lose him.

Amazing that he hasnt been mentioned until now.Reckon he more value than the three recent appointees.Great aquisition to CFC.But to deny him the oppurtunity of getting the Saints job would be a dog act.The guy more than deserves a senior gig somewhere.

Whisper going around from Seaford is that Dean Laidley is a front runner for the senior job.
