This was something that happened back in January and was very well run by the club.

The Spirit of Carlton were asked to provide the funds to make this possible and we were only too happy to do so as this is exactly what should be happening around the club to promote the involvement of past players and their families at the club.

We ran a couple of articles at the time the academy was held.

As I've said before, this is the kind of thing that puts a smile on every-one who is involved with the Carlton football club and supporters alike. Well done SoC & comp.

I was chatting with Mil Hanna over the Oz Day weekend about it. Both he and his son really enjoyed it.

That was great to watch and a fantastic initiative from the club. Pleasing to see we now have to resources to make something like this a reality.

:thanks:

I think it was Sexton's son near the end who caught the ball off the rebound net, 360 spin then handballed it through the target. Looks like a gun already haha.

Jo Silvagni was there in one of the shots, so you would expect the 3 boys were as well.

The names on the back of the boy's jumpers helped, I also saw Glen Manton's son.

I umpired Jack Silvagni last week and just letting you guys know he will be an absolute freak. Took about 4 strong pack mark, kicked 3 goals (one from about 40m out), this being in under 14s. Future Carlton champion. Great leadership skills as well!

Too early to give him a 'tour' of the training facilities at PP?

The Spew will probably change the Father and Son rule to 350 games

I saw some of that game. Yes he's clever and skilful but that description is over the top. Young SOS played forward pocket and at this stage, he's quite small for his age. (Yes, theres plenty of opportunity for him to grow) but to suggest he was taking multiple pack marks is folly. Let's just let him enjoy his footy without foolish expectations.
As a side note, Darren Harris coaches juniors at the same club and Graham Wright does the footy ops so he has plenty of knowledgeable mentors around him.

I reckon its going to be pretty difficult to get an accurate assessment on the Silvagni boys as they come through. First hand accounts from good judges like BV will be gold.

From memory SOS had a growth spurt at 16 so hopefully thats comes with young Jack as well if he's a little small at this stage.
