http://spiritofcarlton.com/blog/2011/07 ... -was-good/ The Blues had a mighty good day today beating the Tigers by 103 points in perfect conditions. The record margin of 115 points was in danger today. However it would have been a tragedy if the record was beaten today because we managed to beat Richmond just four years after their last premiership in appalling conditions in round 14 of 1984 by a record margin. This was a truly spectacular win in the wet and should be acknowledged. |

We smashed them by over 100 points in 94 as well. |

Pretty sad that even in our darkest period over the last decade they were little better. Mind you the first time we played them in 2005, was the only time I have left a game at half time. |

Was that the game at Princes Park and a big crowd turned up for the game, but it was obvious after about 10 minutes the Tigers were going to get smashed. The commentator (i don't remember who) said " it's a huge crowd in here so they've locked the gates so the Tigers supporters can't leave early" . |

I was at that game in 1984 - Wow, seems like yesterday. Standing in the mud on the wing packed in like sardines - slab boxes over the head to keep dry and warm-ish. The bar was down the muddy slop up against the fence - I was too young to drink, but that's where we got the boxes from. I didn't want that day to end ![]() When I talk with people about footy in the old days, that's the game that stands out a mile. |
