The terms at the start of the year were made crystal clear. It was said that we needed to win a final. |

so if we come say 6th and win a final and then lose ,to me its the same as comen 4th and going out in straight sets but comen 4th is a better year overall, ,means we won more games! |

Context has to be considered. Both Swann and Sticks were very clear. So clear in fact that most supporters and media commentators were somewhat taken aback at the directness of their comments. My own opinion is that I hope a professional and fully informed decision by the board is taken, without personal allegiances being brought into it, when the season is finished and alternative options are on the table. |

Traditionally we re-sign the coach on the back of a decent first half of the season, so that the coach can focus completely on dropping three quarters of the remaining matches to leave us all wondering why he has a shiney new two year contract. Since we didn't re-sign Ratts two weeks ago, perhaps we really are persisting with this new fangled "set a KPI, complete season, compare ledger to KPI" approach. Seem crazy to me, but lets just see how it plays out. |

It was a pity that they didn't apply that principal when they appointed him in the first place |

The article in the Age a few Fridays ago was very interesting. Ratten's job has not changed in name. Head coach. But his role has diminished. His deficincies as a Head Coach were highlighted. Sure he has improved as a Head Coach , but to me the involvement of Richardson and Brown has been a major factor in our improvement as a team. I will always maintain that There are better coaches out there than Brett Ratten, but the club's review was excellent and the new appointments have made the biggest difference. What has changed and will continue to evolve is the Head Coaches' role and the assistants. Like a good marriage one has to compliment the other. Ratten has failings as a coach, but the assistants make up the slack. Ironically it was Alan Richardson I wanted as a coach at the club. Kind of got my wish. The mix is right. Just like Sticks deficincies are compensated by the Pratt presence. If we win the 17th, I am sure a few of you posters will be asking me to say I was wrong. To some degree yes, but some degree no. Bottom line though is we seem to have the right mix at the moment |
