Apologies if already posted, but we'll be joining the overseas high altitude training club as of next pre-season.

Spain and Qatar appear to be the options ...

If it's Qatar.....maybe theirs a sponsorship deal tied to that.

I was there a few weeks ago.
I couldn't believe how barren that oil rich country is and it has only a population of 250,000.
That's people, not camels.

Bring it on Qatar Airlines....Carlton sponsor....I hope so.
IIRC they mainly fly out of Melbourne.

If they let us have the World Cup, we'll let them sponsor our team.

I think that's fair.

I heard Ben Cousins rang Juddy immediately when he heard our players were going to get high at the end of the season

Qatar?

Jay Clark, let me introduce you to Google, this rad new hip search engine all the cool kids are using.

See, I type in 'geography of Qatar' and up comes some results, all of which say the highest point in Qatar has an elevation of about 100 m above sea level.

So unless we're going to a flat, barren desert, where sex out of wedlock and alcohol is illegal just to see if half our squad can avoid getting a jail sentence for the whole camp, I think you might have your countries wrong*.

* - Disregard if there's altitude tents/chambers, but that seems like an expensive jaunt for something that is available at the VIS, the AIS, the Lexus Centre, etc.

If Qatar are awarded hosts of the Carlton Football Club High Altitude Training Program, the voting process is clearly corrupted and needs to be investigated.

Nothing that would necessitate the trip over. That gear is available all over the US, Europe and even this country.

The bozos in Qatar were going to provide air-conditioned soccer stadiums for the World Cup - where the outside temperatures were going to hit 50 degrees celcius.

So I'm tipping that there might be a few of these altitude training facilities (completely air-conditioned of course) lying around.

And it will still have similar long term effects as a couple weeks at the bogan's Camp Propaganda

Its desert training.
Altitude is for wimps.

55deg celsius. 80% humidity.
Nothing but salt licks and urine for hydration.
And instead of camels being "ships of the desert", our players are going to carry melons for the locals.

It mentions we're looking at high-performance bases, but goes onto to talk about the benefits of high-altitude training.

Presumably that's why we're looking at such sites. I'd rather have us go use an altitude tent at the AIS than use one in Qatar.
