It feels strange to think of Richmond as a potentially successful team |

But Sheedy soon fixed my hatred of Essendon* quick smart Richmond was a real powerhouse in the late 60's and then again in the early to mid 70's. They won the Flag in '67 and '69, and again in '73 and '74.....and stuffed our fourpeat by winning in 1980. |

Non- Carlton people often forget we played in 5 Grand Finals in 6 years (68 to 73) - and Richmond probably beat us fair and square in 69 - but 73 they king hit our chances from behind. ![]() For some reason we are under rated by the media and general public for our achievements through that period - everyone talks about the great Melbourne sides of the 50s, and the Hawthorn and North Melbourne sides of the 70s and the Hawthorn and Essendon* Sides of the 80s. But Jesus Christ between 1968 to 1982 (15 seasons) Carlton played in 8 Grand Finals and won 6 of them. Geez we were good. |
