This is slightly inspired by Murphy's comments on On The Couch tonight, but something that's driven me nuts this year is our forward line being unwilling to take on the responsibility and actually have a shot on goal.

So often against St Kilda and Adelaide in particular we would take a mark inside 50 and pass off, turn it over and it's out of there like that. We are in the very top bracket for Marks inside 50, from memory third or higher in the comp. But so often we do stupid passes to 2 on 1 situations instead of just taking a shot. Professional footballers should be taking shots from marks inside 50. I think we've really let ourselves down so far this year with wasteful decisions from marks inside 50.

Also, unrelated but I think we still have issues shepherding. We're probably one of the worst clubs in the AFL for it. Too often our players will be too eager to get the next ball and wont apply the shepherd. One example from Friday night's match was Garlett's super quick goal in the second quarter. Waite knocks it over to him and sure he did have the pace to burn off Kelly in the end but Waite just watches him run past and chase after Garlett, no shepherd applied. Happens many times a match around the ground. I truly think if we could shepherd better and make better decisions inside 50 we'd take the next step

Tend to agree. It's a fine balancing act though. Personally I was very pleased to see Armfield have a ping from 50 late in the game. Did not have a lot of options and went for it. Did not get the goal but the intention was right.

army was definetly correct to go for that goal. The Geelong went towards the boundary side to cover the pass, leaving the straight passage for army to charge through. Good on him, so wished he kicked it .
