Every club has a skeleton or two in their closest, and this is one of our worst - if not the worst.

Nah, I'd say the club cheating their way to 16 premierships and eventually a 17th is by far the worst.

Essendon*?

Post subject:  Re: Carlton’s All-Star Indigenous Team

Article on Alf Egan our first indigenous player, also played for Norf.

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2014-0 ... ed-the-way

"Since Egan first ran out on that second Saturday in May of ’31, 13 Indigenous footballers have followed at Carlton – in order of senior debut, Cyril Mann, Syd Jackson, Rod Waddell, Mark Naley, Sean Charles, Troy Bond, Justin Murphy, Cory McGrath, Andrew Walker, Eddie Betts, Joe Anderson, Jeff Garlett and Chris Yarran."

So certainly seems no more senior players identifying themselves as indigenous - maybe some seconds or thirds players, preseason games etc. could still crop up? And of course, there remains the suggestion that a certain champion doesn't concede his heritage in this regard.

And to think we might have had the great Pastor Sir Douglas Nichols except the trainers refused to rub him down.

Congrats to Chris Yarran on making the 100 game club.

Wouldn't have been easy for him to achieve this - hope his mum can watch him play tonight.

A full 22 at last.

BTW re Jones - given we have counted reserves, U 19 and preseason / night comps it would only seem fair to count Northern Blues games by listed players at least - so even his biggest detractors would probably concede barring catastrophic injury or the like he will qualify.

Mate I was clutching at straws to get a 22, I only knew about Willie Pepper as he transferred to my high school (Uni High) for a year to get him into the Carlton zone as he was a Drouin boy

Surely he's on the bench until he even trains with us

Surely Eddie Betts should be named at centre half forward!

We were pretty ordinary with indigenous players prior to the last 15 years or so.

Colleague did a doctorate on indigenous welfare in the AFL. She backs up what you're saying, saying historically we were among the worst.

After the draft Clem Smith has been added to the team (without training let alone playing a game yet!!) - Liam Jones has at least now trained with the Blues

Sir Douglas only ever trained with us. The trainers refused to rub him down so he went back to the VFA before Haydn Bunton got him to Fitzroy.

Ezra Bray has gone missing again.

Although, a more accurate description might be that Ezra doesn’t want to be found by the people that are looking for him.

He’s north of 40 now, which is to say, he’s beaten the spread.

Here’s hoping he’s out of trouble & at least playing fair, if not clean.

Just read his profile on the Blueseum including the article from 2007. What a horribly sad story.

But with a happy ending?

Someone with time and inclination up for updating this team?

Since Betts came back to us does he get listed twice?
