I just wanted to vent my frustration and gauge TCers' opinions on how good and how prolific the leadership is at Carlton these days.

And I suppose that obviously equates to: how good is Judd's leadership for the main part.

I, for one, have been quite pissed off at times over the last few years as to how often and regularly the media feel they have the license to take pot shots at Judd's leadership and paint us as a team of mercenary draft picks.

I find it astounding, beyond belief, bizarre, ridiculous, and surreal that people can sit there with a straight face and say that the reigning Brownlow medallist has no effect on our team and does not play for the jumper.

I am aware of the whole Carlton-story-translator phenomenon, and the general hatred for Carlton, but FFS in my eyes you could not manufacture a better advertisement for consistency, dedication and loyalty than Judd.

It almost makes the tears well up in my eyes to hear that his blood was boiling and he wanted to take the Saints on after their dodgy treatment of Curnow!!

Surely these are sentiments we could do with more of!
I believe whatever we gave up for Judd, he has repaid it ten-fold.

We were a rudderless rabble killing time, waiting for draft picks.
He has helped transform us into a top 4 contender.

He is already one of the greatest Carlton players - signed, sealed, delivered.

I dont understand how anyone can question his leadership.

I hope he is around to start melees with the Aints for years to come!!!!

Have to say, Judd's on field passion and excitement is more obvious this year...after the Sydney game in rd 6 he was extremely fired up, recall him waving a carlton towel he was going to give someone in the crowd over his head ala the Sheedy jacket waving phenomenon as he approached the crowd. Against the Saints too he was very pumped after the win.

Naturally Judd comes across as a humble, focused, professional (some would even say introverted) individual which is why he is seen to be keeping his emotions relatively in check on field.

He is not one to seek the spotlight and how rarely do we see him in the media on the footy show, ch7 gameday etc despite being more credentialed than any of he of the other flogs on those programs (Montagna and Maxwell working with ch 7 friday night football FFS). He is also rarely outspoken on issues in the game.

Notwithstanding he is a fantastic leader and this quality should never be questioned. Actions speak louder than words and the example he sets on field as well as in preparation and training is unrivalled (trained on his own the other day at Visy Park when team had afew days off after bye, and that speaks volumes - no doubt the boys would have taken notice).

(As an aside, do people here get the feeling Judd is not as much in the boys club off-field - we see the tight knitedness of certain players like murphy, russell, gibbs, simpson etc etc who seem to have a great bond)

Thats just my take.

Take from this what you want, but recently Sheedy :garthp: ranked the captains.

1 Brown
2 Judd

Hard to argue really...

That's coz Juddy didn't give a shit and wouldn't have wasted his time, same goes with his detachment from Cuz on that matter too.
not saying he didnt care, he just had more serious shit to do.
