I prefer the white one as a "clash" jumper, but I'd prefer a modified version of it - something with a bit more navy blue. Not introduce a new colour.

It's not new; it's a part of our history.

Carlton captain George D. Kennedy played in Sky Blue in 1873.

bit of a long bow there LB

I did too !

And it was worn for a great cause which could easily be reinforced each time it was worn.

It would therefore stand for something in the community.

Muzza,I think you are onto something here...

Coming up with a great charity jumper (that could be any colour) that looks great/different and helps a great cause. Shows the club has a soul and is leading the way with new ideas.

Dare we suggest the yellow one that raises money for breast cancer awareness?

The powder blue one for Royal Childrens Hospital on a game played on Good Friday?

Maybe a cool green one for a Visy recycling promotion etc?

Somebody stop me!!

I love this idea!!!!!!

And the jumper manufacturers would be annoyed by. Still, it's something the club has enough contacts for, and it allows for a sample sponsorship for companies who are interested.

Can be sold to all parties easily enough, except for the those pushing out the jumpers. I don't think they'd appreciate running out 5 or 6 times the usual number of jumpers for charity.

So why the light blue guernsey and shorts in Monday night’s match against St Kilda?

AFL rules - that is the only reason.

That's the reason we wore an alternate strip, but not this light blue one.

The result is a light blue that some have likened to the colour worn by the sporting teams of the University of North Carolina, the tar heels. Importantly it provides Carlton with an alternative strip that is approved by the AFL and ensures we are still ‘the Blues’ even if not the Navy Blues.

I've been too lazy to read this entire thread, but anyway..

my preference is silver - we're the classiest team in the comp. Why not a colour that reflects it?
second is yellow - I believe there was a Carlton strip VERY early on with yellow shoulders
Third- something to do with an integrated marketing plan. If we do not start creating an identity beyond just being Carlton there is a limit to what we can achieve. Hawthorn has the Tassie thing, GWS is actively pursuing western NSW as well as west Sydney, even North is trying to foster a relationship with immigrant communities. What are we going to do to grow and develop our club identity?(By the way, How is it that the inbreds at Collingwood are sponsored by Lexus and we get Hyundai. My thanks to Hyundai, but the concept of integrated marketing requires you to give consistent messages - we're elite, hyundai isn't)

Definitely worth looking into.

jimmae might be right about manufacturing issues/costs etc, but I still reckon it'd be worth pursuing.

Strategically handing a bunch out would be pretty good PR for Nike, costs can be offset against goodwill.

I thought it was 4 out of 4? St Kilda, Melbourne, Port and Freo.

They showed highlights last week of the first Melbourne game and after watching yesterday....I dont like the light blues. Not because Im against clash jumpers, the white ones I didn't mind, there's just nothing to identify with light blue.

It's an official 3rd colour, which goes against our 100+ year history of navy blue & white and is just wrong.

It's a shameful sellout to Nike and the board needs to correct this and create a suitable alternate guernsey using navy blue & white.

Except a 100% win record. Take that any day.

I don't know if it holds any water, but the guy next to me (Freo supporter, but a nice bloke) believed that the Freo players had trouble seeing it against the background and light green of the grass.

I'will say that the number of interceptions we had, it did look like sometimes we came out of nowhere.

I know, sounds like tosh, but it is a fact some colour are more easily identifiable than others.

Other than that, I HATE IT!
