Muzza,I think you are onto something here...

Coming up with a great charity jumper (that could be any colour) that looks great/different and helps a great cause. Shows the club has a soul and is leading the way with new ideas.

Dare we suggest the yellow one that raises money for breast cancer awareness?

The powder blue one for Royal Childrens Hospital on a game played on Good Friday?

Maybe a cool green one for a Visy recycling promotion etc?

Somebody stop me!!

I like your thinking.
if we must wear some stupid alt. g. 4 times a year..why not have them tied to causes. A diff. color per game and cause would be a better way to deal withit.
The problem might be if we are allowed to do that.

I actually like the green idea - a "Thankyou Richard Pratt" day for Visy...

Maybe do it as a membership drive...

eg. Here is a guy who saved the club - what can you do? Buy a membership!!

Any more and I'd have to charge for my time...!!

Yes, I've been thinking about this for a while now.

AFL footballers play such a significant visible and potentially influential role in the community.

I teach sport sociology at tertiary level and always invite my students to reflect upon the role 'visible' athletes can play in the broader community. Four unique jumpers each year with proceeds going to worthy causes would be a wonderful gesture. Imagine on the Thursday before the Good Friday game (if we never get the Good Friday game) selling the jumpers outside the ground with a board telecasting the numbers of sales and dollars being turned over the Children's Hospital appeal.

And yes other colours to coincide with other causes.

This could be a very significant move from the football club to promote the club as having a social conscience and do some good in the community.

How about you get over yourself? You're not the only person here who'd prefer we didn't wear a clash guernsey.

How hard is it to accept the club doesn't make this decision because it thinks it knows best?

Yes the AFL dictates that we must have a clash jumper.

You seen the filth and scum clash jumpers? one is black and white and the other one is black and red (wider) sash... revolutionary that is.

I'll go get over myself now...

But that's different to our original guernsey.

As is this:

And this:

And this:

If people are against change, shouldn't our players be wearing this (and an orange cap) every week?

That yellow was white but turned yellow after several washes...http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=guernsey+history
Quote:
Carlton's jumpers were never blue and yellow. They were blue with white shoulder patches. Chamois was used on the shoulders as it was more comfortable to wear. However, after many washes the white dye would wear off to reveal the yellow chamois underneath.

I hate the fact we even need a frigen clash jumper....... But if I HAD to choose.....

1st:- our old heritage jumper revamped with the Armstrong yellow (as in, less yellow + more navy)

2nd:- the white.

A distant 3rd:- that shocking poofy light blue! Ohhh god that's awful! :screwy:

1. White

2. Yellow

3. Light Blue

Also.......
What's the deal with the socks?

Why add a white stripe when we're playing against a team which also has a white stripe in it's socks?

Shouldn't we only change socks when they clash with the opposition's socks???

I also think Eddie Bett's shorts are at least 3 sizes too big.

White, but with navy shorts...not that the AFL would ever allow it.

An observation...the AFL insists we all need to have a clash jumper. When we played (away) against Collingwood in round 3, we wore our normal jumper, and they theirs. Surely if there is no clash there (which I think there is), then there is no clash anywhere else????

Light Blue?

Yellow?

Other?

Why not stick the cfc logo on that and we have our clash jumper.

My answer is included in the first post you decided to ridicule.

I prefer the white one as a "clash" jumper, but I'd prefer a modified version of it - something with a bit more navy blue. Not introduce a new colour.

If the filth and scum are allowed to get away with slight modifications then why not us? I just think we gave in a little too easy on this matter.

It's not new; it's a part of our history.

Carlton captain George D. Kennedy played in Sky Blue in 1873.
