Heard ratts return the favour on sen earlier today saying judd was up there with him as the best player hes ever seen

Pretty disappointed last night on Channel 10 when at HT, Diesel confirmed that he barracks for Sydney and Carlton 50/50.

He had to say that as he was up there as a guest of Sydney's as part of their Hall of Fame celebrations. It's well known that Diesel is a Blues man through and through and attends most of the matches.

What Diesel needs to realise is that Carlton fans are sick and tired of the team being shit
we have had 10 years of some of the most insipid football being played in the carlton jumper

when you have a group of fans that saw 8 flags and 11 grand final apperances in 27 years it is a little hard to stomach 10 years at the bottom with 3 spoons

So if the fans are being hard on Ratts is because we are fed up - You have got the players produce the goods I say

Yes but when a large number of these players came together they were, young, skinny, not AFL fit and they did not have the AFL resilience to play 22 hard faught games.

Previous Premiership teams have travelled the long road with a long term plan. We are no different.

I realise this but we are an impatient lot -the fade out last year was a tad disappointing - There is no question we are miles ahead of where we were when Ratts took over - It still doesnt stop us from becoming frustrated with some of the teams perfomances - We Carlton supporters we expect success if we didnt we would probably follow Richmond or footscray where they are satified with the team trying hard but not quite getting there

And at Carlton we love nothing better than a Coach linching

He didn't specify when. That's the secret of the prognosticator. Say something which seems specific on the surface, but is actually vague enough to mean almost anything.

Scotto on before the game was asked about Ratten and he basically said "he's getting better as a coach" .

That's not a response you hear made by senior players about their coach very often. He then mentioned the impact Brown and Richardson have made and that the group (players and coaches) were improving together. He sounded, to me at least, quite proud of the groups improvements.

I've been unconvinced by Ratts because I just didn't think he had the presence or confidence to bring in an effective style of play, but Scotto's answers seem to suggest there is a level of solidarity in the playing and coaching group that has not existed before.

It was quite heartening.

Hope so. He is a Carlton man through and through. Loved his emotion on Friday night. he has taken us from the cellar and we are only a few stops from the penthouse.

I would like to see Brett Ratten as the next premiership coach too.

But I think that there will be a sudden and unexpected turn of events that prevents this from occurring.

As the one that did a lot of the work to get them to where they are and the fact that he is a true Carlton man - it is only fair that Ratten enjoys the fruits of success.

But as we know, judgement of things in football are often quite arbitrary and can appear to be extremely unfair.

The discussion and comment that flows from these situations can result in diametrically opposed opinions and views.

It is of course is a lot of the reason why sites this this one are in existence.

I've been a critic of whether Ratten is the right man, that's for sure. Sydney on Friday night was a very good coaching performance by the man. Probably his best of the year. He is lucky he has a super human player in Judd out on the ground. He did appear to coach very well. His gameplan wasnt working in the first half and instead of being stubborn he made some crucial changes. Armfield on the ground was at exactly the required time. Got to love Army.

I still think the jury is out until September time Carlton have hit the finals before. It's about what we do when we get there. Carlton are good enough to push for a Preliminary final if their form is right.

In the short term, they simply must smash a flat St Kilda and then they are a chance against Geelong after the break. Win or lose against the Cats, the run into Round 16 of the season is laced with winnable games.

Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, West Coast, Richmond, Western Bulldogs.

If we're any good we should win all seven of those with questions marks over Sydney and WB (who I dont rate), and then come up against Collingwood once again.

At worst Carlton should be 11-4-1 at the end of Round 16. The last 7 games include some tougher encounters - Essendon*, Hawthorn and Freo away are in there. 14 wins wont be enough for top 4. That means they will need to win probably three games out of Geelong, Sydney, Bulldogs, Bombers, Dockers and Hawks without dropping the other easier-beats.

But of course anything could happen. Ratten probably has a B+ on his report card so far for 2011, this is certainly a tense and exciting season for the Navy Blue!!
