http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/footy-legend-naleys-anzac-surprise/story-e6frea6u-1226040597557 In today's Adelaide Advertiser. Good article Mark Naley's discovered family history. For the record Mr Naley you were no hack. Think State games mid 1980's. ![]() |

As I recall he struggled early in his first season (1987) and did not look like getting near it till he was selected for SA in a State of Origin game - he tore it up in that game and with renewed confidence turned in a great debut season culminating with a premiership. |

You are spot on, I remember Lou Richards stating that in Naley's first game of the year against the Dawks (Rd 1) that Naley looked so slow he could have been booked for loitering. But his season turned once he blitzed the Vics in that state game. |

Thanks DBMots ! Often see Nales out the back of my joint at Lockleys Oval watching the Demons run around. He's on the committee there and pretty sure his lad plays for 'em... |

Anyone else find it odd that he is now considered an indigenous player? |

My best mate found out his Great Grandpa was an Aboriginal after going back through his family tree. Doesn't mean he'll tick the box on the forms when they ask if he's an Indigenous/Torres Strait Islander. He had no idea until a year or so ago. I thought I read somewhere that Greg Willims was indigenous, but didn't recognise it ? |

I'm referring more to the mention that he will be added as another indigenous premiership player |

Thats my undersatnding is that his olive complexion comes from Spanish heritage rather than an indigenous one. |

I remember reading an article in a paper when Diesel says he has Spanish blood - maybe 30, 40 years ago people may have tried to hide the fact that they had aboriginal blood, but thankfully thats not the case these days (or it seems that way anyway) |

Thanks for the article. Always great to read about the guys you idolised as a teenager. They're the players you remember most fondly I reckon. |
