I heard this rumored as fact in the media this week .... that Kruezer will play Centre Half Back when he returns. (sorry ... cannot remember who said it ... maybe Walls or perhaps Parkin)

The more I think about it, the more I like this idea. Otherwise I am not sure where he best fits into the side (except obviously at the expense of Hampson).

Interested in what others think about this possibility.

Would he be any good at centre half back? He certainly looks strong enough these days. And we know about his general athleticism.

If he can play the position, it would certainly give our backline a more robust look. And he would certainly be as attacking as Bower, if not more so. (leaving Bower to compete with Watson for the 3rd tall spot)

Yeah I like the idea.

Parko said it on AFL Teams.

If it does happen, Bower may find it harder to settle a role in the team once he gets back.

As I have said numerous times now, would you want a bloke who's recovering from an injury that affects his lateral movement to play the tall position on the ground that requires the most twisting and turning?

He is very mobile for a ruckman, but he is not mobile enough to be a defender. Defenders need to do a lot of twist and turn, don't Kruezer can do that, especially after his knee injury.

Which probably doesn't make it FACT.

One of the commentators said it on Friday night also.

I'd prefer to see Kreuzer forward and Waite back.

Pretty sure Walls said it during the goldcoast game as well.

Just highlights how out of touch Walls is with regard to how the game is played.

He'll have major confidence issues with regard to changing direction and Walls wants him to play there?

It isn't the 1990s where you had Scott Wynd sitting a kick behind play. Coaches would exploit him with ease.

Play him deep forward and taking throw ins/ball ups forward of centre. No centre bounces until he looks to have regained some touch/confidence.

Maybe he'll be the oldschool loose man/resting ruckman in the backline. Our backline is fragile so i can see that happening.

That's a liability, and you'd prefer to just play Watson.

Watson's in my best 18 anyway and I'd give kreuz license to go anywhere as he's got a natural footy brain and a tank that's limitless.

Could see him playing on Dawes, Hille ,Sandilands (when resting) and Q Lynch. Your typical CHF would be too mobile for him.

Krooz is a tall mobile ruckman; and that's what he is.

I'd like to see him turn into the nuggety back pocket we need, or maybe another nippy forward pocket to mop up the crumbs of Betts and co.

If he hasn't recovered then they should not play him anywhere on the ground.

Goodes and Kouta played HB when recovering from their knee injuries.

Kouta played most of his footy in a different era, plus he managed to destroy his knee several times thereafter. Goodes hasn't played in the ruck since if I'm not mistaken.

I'm sure he's recovered, but you need time to build and condition muscles you haven't been using properly, as well as re-gaining the confidence to use them.

Better to play Henderson at CHB and Kruezer CHF!

The One position I would not play Kruise would be as a key backman

but then

I haven't coached too many AFL teams either

still if I did

and it were Carlton

I'd play him forward or onball

I actually like the idea & David Parkin & Robert Walls know a fair bit more about the current game than I do. Considering that it was his left (jumping) knee that he hurt, I would hate to see him go to a heavy ruck workload too soon by replacing Hampson. We don't need it at the moment anyway. A key position - back or forward - depending on how the opposition lines up should be the go for a while until he regains full confidence in the knee & his game. Will be great to have him back wherever he plays.
