Hard to know how to feel after this one. Obviously disappointed at the loss, but we certainly showed enough to say we're not that far behind.

We seemed to be happy to lose by 5 goals....had their crack in the first half then seemed to not try has hard.

Have a @#$%&! crack.

Once again in the 3rd quarter it was left to Judd to lift the team.

-3 goals in the second quarter from stoppages, 2 from throw ins and 1 from a ball up. We still don't defend hard enough at these stoppages.

-We play into Collingwood's hands every time - at every centre bounce they have a loose man sitting 50m out and when we win the centre clearance their lose man marks it most times.

-Our forwards were pathetic when it came to forcing a contest when outnumbered - the best to force a contest was the skinniest bloke on the ground! How @#$%&! pathetic is that. Jarrad Waite instead of wacking blokes he should be forcing the ball to ground. Hampson too...they're ok deep in the forward line but when we get that shallow kick inside 50 they have to compete...surely it has been drumbed into them that Maxwell/Shaw/O'Brien will sag off their man and try to mark without an opponent. We were pathetic in this area.

-We really miss Kreuzer for the kick down the boundary line...our rucks really struggle to take marks around the ground. Kreuzer gives us that support in the air for the down the line kick.

-Henderson has to come into the team to give us some more tall targets up forward, especially given the way our other tall forwards don't work hard enough to provide an option.

-The performance of Andrew Walker and Eddie Betts was not good enough - it's good to perform against shite opposition but here was their chance...we have Walker trying to take MOTY...try to do the simple things first please Andrew.

-Eddie Betts a $1M 3 year deal.....pffffffffffffffffft

Mixed emotions. Could've been worse - could've been better.

'Bout what most of us expected.
We're on the way, but not quite there yet.
As the commentators said, Carlton's top six match it with anyone,
but the bottom six aren't quite there.

No need for wholesale changes, but I'd like to see Army and Ellard back for the Bombers.

It is interesting how much of their game plan is built on being ahead at half time. They don't have a lot left after that except two big lugs who don't get any smaller.

I can't help but think if not for the 7-8 minute lapse at the end of the 2nd where we insisted on kicking backwards cause no one would lead or run that it might have been a different result.

Next time we will have Krezuer, Henderson and probably Bower as well which has gotta count for something.

If we go 15-7 this year and make the top 4 we would be happy. The flip side is that you have 7 losses. This is one, and it is not the end of the world against easily the best team in the comp right now.
Win next week and I can accept this week

All week I didn't expect to win but come game time and it's all I wanted!

As someone who has only listened to radio coverage, what will the general footy public think of our performance? Did we pass the 'genuine contender' test?

Disappointed to lose, always am. There were some promising signs but the class, skills, strength and belief necessary to win games like this is yet to come.
Mystified why we kicked so short in defense - played straight into their hands. Be interested to find out why.

We were only outscored by 1pt in the 2nd half. How can anyone one claim we didn't have a go in the 2nd half is utter nonsense.

Never happy to lose however players did ok I thought.. Well most of them. Thought our coaches and setup was too defensive tonight, not sure we gave ourselves a chance to win.. Like it was more about respect than winning. I hope not.
Betts would be a chance to be dropped? So weak at the pill tonight.

disappointed with the lack of intensity - sure plenty of tackling but also lots of coasting and not enough aggression in the contest. Not enough scrap around the stoppages.

need lots more from Gibbs, Murphy, Betts, waite and others.

Our backline looks inexperienced with Laidler, Duigan and Yarran - they all need lots more game time to gell a bit.

p.s Umpire 25 was pretty good for them.

A few baffling umpiring decisions really broke our momentum and slack defending on a Collingwood munchkin made the difference...Armfield unlucky to be left out and Henderson a certainty to be included.

Boys vs Men for another 2 or 3 seasons to come by the look of things. Not just in body but in the mind and mentality. Not happy with the game full stop. Probably just grumpy for the loss, but am allowed to be so too. Hate the hype prior to the game for games I know we will lose. Lets hope we don't get beat by the bummers. It will definately take the wind out of our sails for the season.

Harry Obrien ripped us a new aszhole in defence. We definitely need a power forward.

One pro: a big loss tonight would have been an absolute disaster, a bullet dodged there from a self-belief point of view.

Really disappointed with Betts, Warnock & Waite, and the use of Gibbs.

That's the thing WBY...the coach, the players and the supporters seem 'pleased' with the result.

While the margin is OK I thought our effort after HT was pathetic...we gave in...piss weak! I'm @#$%&! livid!

Basic schoolboy errors and ineffective style of play in the 2nd quarter killed us, which is what killed us at times last year really.

Can't fault most for their endeavour however a few players were very ordinary.

Why was Gibbs playing a negating role ?

Liked Robbo's game. He seems to be maturing and Jeffy Garlett was great again along with Juddy.

Hampson to emergency

Persevere with Collins give him another run... made fatal stupid errors and cost us two goals...but wouldn't throw him away just yet.

Have to bring Hendo in.
