Must have been very humid up there tonight, because there was a lot of mishandling of the footy.

Pros:
Pretty obvious really. A 20 goal win. Huge percentage boost. Kicking straight early made a huge difference. Scoreboard pressure, etc.
Good first up effort from Watto. Nice to have a couple of thumping kicks in defence this year. Nice to have a range of players who can take the kick outs as well. Makes us far less predictable.
Slashing game from Yarran. Pity he didn't kick a couple of goals.
Warnock.
Another terrific game from Curnow.
Garlett, Walker and Thornton up forward.
Really, really like Duigan.
Russell, and a stack of others, as you'd expect in a thrashing.

Cons:
Waite's marking was poor tonight. Seemed to really struggle with the slippery ball.
Umpire's obsession with Ablett.

Pros:
- 119 pts win.
- Curnow
- Murphy and Gibbs.
- Garlett
- Warnock's tap work.
-Yarran
- Duigan

Cons:
- Waite dropped way too many marks.
- Defence is very raw. Will have lots of problems against the Pies next week.
- White.
- Simpson had a pretty quiet game.
- Boring match really.

Post subject:  Re: Positives and Negatives from round 2

Pros
- win in bank
- % booster
- shut up all the pricks who thought the Suns would win
- game was over at 1/4 time
- goal kicking was much better than last week
- JEFFY!
- Tbird needs to stay up forward, that banana goal was tops
- Duigan and Curnow; Curnow a great find
- good solid debut from Watson and will boost his confidence

Cons
- was little more than a training run
- possible warm humid weather and travel impacting on recovery
- Waite did not have a great game - possible concussion hangover?
- Russell was average
- Laidler's @#$%&! up to let them get their first goal was pretty bad
- still struggle to mark in our fwd 50 - cannot take a contested pack mark and on the lead the ball always bounces off the chest or hands
- some silly decision making BUT when playing a bad side you often are not as switched on as you could be

You can only beat who you're playing though. After last week's yips I hope this was a good cobweb blowout. Bring on the Filth.

I was right, everyone at work was wrong, again.

Unlimited coffee this week and a nice little profit @ Sportsbet to cover bets for the rest of the season.

Watson will keep his spot and has earnt a gig on Cloke or Dawes.

White may be the one dropped for Jamo thanks to T-Bird's cameo. Didn't play badly, but too undersized for the Pies monsters.

Curnow never gives up in the contest.

Beat an ordinary team like we should (the Richmond form doesn't look so bad either ?).

Pros

Loving 1AW as a permanent forward. Amazing how his kicking is better when going for goal than field kicking :screwy:

Yazz much more involved tonight. Should have had 2 at least.

Jeffy G. OMG this little dude is only going to get better and better. In time they may be saying that Lance is Jeffy's cuz ??

Watto. A really good first game, and that left foot kick out is a killer :smoking: Got beaten in one-on-ones against 200cm+ guys a few times, but most would have struggled in those situations.

Really notice a big difference in the amount of pressure we are applying all over the ground. No doubt a copy of the Filth style, but certainly working well.

Warnock has become a massive ruck weapon, and he has quite quick hands in close for a giant

T-Bird. Credit where credit's due.

Did the great man proud in his 200th. And he pantsed Gazza for mine.

Lock out at the G next Friday. Good old fashioned block buster :thanks:

Cons

Having to listen to 1/4 Brain trying to get the Gold Coast up ("its only half way through the 3rd and they're only 69 points down...")

Can anyone tell me how we're going to fit Hendo, Bower, Jamo, Kreuz into the side :?: (is that a pro ?)

Post subject:  Re: Positives and Negatives from round 2

Pros:
- Percentage
- Having the pleasure of introducing the AFL's new lovechildren to AFL
- Walker's kicking
- Jeff continues to amaze
- Thornton showed a bit up front, be interesting to see i they persevere
- Waite gave Bock the run-around
- Straighter kicking (although still missed a few with no pressure)
- Watson's kicking-in
- Curnow continues to impress. What a steal
- Yarran got a bit of it, and showed glimpses of his class up forward too (will be even better when he kicks those)

Cons:
- Second quarter wasn't good enough. Play like that against decent teams and we'll get smashed, but I think the boys know that
- Laidler and JR had wobbles most of the night
- Waite dropped too many
- Murph and Gibbs got plenty of it, but I don't feel they had any real impact

- As much as I enjoyed Watson's kicking in, thought he got found out a bit on Dixon at times. Will need more time.
- This game could give us an inflated confidence that could bite us

If we play any other new clubs, then Thornton has to be played on the forward line.

He kicked 4 against GWS in Canberra & 4 tonight against the Suns :smoking:

Don..........we're playing the Premiers who haven't lost in ages. Don't worry, we won't be cocky.

Pro- Massive win!
Con- Not having the game on free to air tv. A travesty.

Pros
A 100+ point win.
Percentage boost that may prove invaluable in 20 weeks time.
We did what was expected by some.
Curnow.... i tipped this !!
Watson and his left foot.
Judd making Gazza look like a first gamer too.
Walker's goal kicking.
Garlett getting better each week and very hard to match up....The Blur
Thornton, credit where credit is due, now do that against a good side.
Warnock, think in 2 years might go past Sandilands.
Collectively, hopefully the team is really looking forward to raining on someone's
parade next week....think we got rolled a couple of times unfurling flags ??
Sticking it right up the naysayers who were dying for us to fall over.
Duigan, improved again from last week.

Cons
At quarter time i thought it was going to be a 200 point win.
Frig, if youre unhappy at a 100 point win, ya need some perspective !!

The commentators were talking crap re Laidler's leap in the air when Dixon ran at him. If you watch the incident again you'll see Laidler's man was in the square and Laidler was trying to cut off a handpass that never came.

There's plenty of pros and while there are plenty out there who want to provide a negative spin I don't really think many teams would have won by more tonight. No team can be 100% dominant in any game from start to finish. They may have been raw and nervy but they were still a talented side.

The only real con for me was that our defence still looks a bit brittle and very green. There are no real leaders there and we desperately need Bower & Jamo back.

I was at the game and this is how I saw it:

Pros
- Garlett. Can't believe he was picked up as a rookie.
- Yarran. Love watching him play.
- Watson looks a player. Like his decision making and long kicking.
- no apparent injuries or potential suspensions. Even though it was humid the players should be fresh for next week after an easy match.

Cons
- Hampson's hard hands.....if only he could take a mark.
- Waite dropped a few too many marks
- White. Should be replaced by Jamo or Bower next week.
- I'm not as sold on Duigan as others here on TC. Would rather Lucas in the side.

Positives:
- Garlett
- Confidence/Percentage booster
- Warnock
- Yarran
- Not over reliance on Judd, Simpson, Murphy and Gibbs (albeit against poor opposition).

Negatives:
- White doesn't inspire me with any confidence with the ball in his hands. Bower, Jamison, Watson and Thornton all better defensive options.
- Not 100% convinced with Duigan just yet. Intensity and agility not AFL standard.
- Shaun 'Concrete' Handson.

Changes v Collingwood:
INS: Jamison, Bower
OUTS: White, Duigan

Not sure if Henderson is ready, if so comes in, possibly for Hampson.

Post subject:  Re: Positives and Negatives from round 2

PROS

Yarran - now can he prosper with the pressure is back on? Big week for him this week (not that he's alone in that regard)

Curnow (Where does Brock fit in now? Will be an interesting call when he's right to go)

Like Gibbs role ATM.

Well done T-Bird, good to see you enjoy yourself

Got through Rds 1 and 2 without Jamo

Jeffy - I think the league is starting to wake up to how good this kid is

Watson - great debut, leave him in. He can handle himself.

What else can you say about the great man? Judd sublime as always.

Murph working himself into good nick for next week.

Scotland, Russell just doing what they do.

CONS

White doesn't convince me. I think a straight swap for Jamo is in order. No way known he'll compete effectively against Cloke and Dawes.

You know when Waite is on - his hands. He was poor last night. Maybe after effects of the knock/suspension drama? Will need to step up next week.

Can't hold the lapse against them - it would have been a weird experience last night, they are trained to face more reistance than what GC put up, and adjustment period is inevitable.

Some otehr questions; Where does Lachi fit in? T-Bird? Some interesting calls to be made over the next month (considering Kreuzer as wll). All good problems to have I suppose!
