Well, hard to find any fault with that.

Well done Blues!

Sorry Brad, don't agree. The first half of that quarter was very ordinary. We got back on top, which is great. But I've got one eye on next week, and all I could see was Collingwood piling on 4-5 cheap goals quickly.

Murph and Gibbs in particular need to get out of first gear.

Don, you can't be serious.

We were smashing them at that stage, we smashed them after it. It ended up a low intensity game....if our players didn't get out of first gear you can't blame tghem for it. I dont think Judd even got into first gear.

Just calling it as I saw it Brad. If it was a coach-initiated strategy that's one thing, but another thing altogether if it was players slackening off, which has been an achilles heel against better teams for a while. It was just for a quarter, so people are making too much of a big deal of my annoyance, but against decent teams that's all it takes, as we've seen time and time again.

But really, it was hard to gauge where we stand based on this. It was clear within 5 minutes we were a 10-time better side and perhaps I was a tad spoiled. But if we dish up next week what we did in that qtr, we'll get murdered. That I can promise. So I hope that it was just strategic for this night only.

Have a look at the report on the AFL site: No Jeffrey and no Curnow amongst best payers...... :screwy:

Only con would be Carrots brain fades in the third to give them half their goals nearly.

Thornton must play fwd if he wants to play throughout the year.

They base it on possies. The stats for 'best' are done by the sort of people that think Swan is better than Judd

You might have a point, stewie, but your avatar has been displaying a kind of a double irony, of late. That old 'Next Generation' chestnut has been traditionally used as a kind of 'whinge about the whingers' which kind of cracks me up. What's your take on it? :?

When I whinge, I at least try to back it up, and still happy to admit when I'm wrong. Many do not, and just continue to spout cheap rhetoric without anything to justify it. People that can't (or won't) back up things they say that others may not agree with piss me off to High Heaven. Hence the avvie.

Also, it's in response to how the media and other supporters portray us, it's cringeworthy at best. 'Only Carlton...' etc.

Hope this explains it

Don't get me wrong, on the whole I am happy at the result, and found it utterly satisfying to stick it up the arse of those who were praying for us to lose (like Quartermain). I just think there were times in the game where we could've done things better, and better sides would've made us pay dearly. If that makes me part of the 'Sakc Ratts' or 'Slit your wrists' brigade then so be it. But it's totally unfair to tar people with that brush IMO.

Anyway, enough of this... GO BLUES!!!

Totally agree re Thornton. His efforts down back, again, had him showing no vision and kicking sideways. He is a liability as is Simon White who no doubt looks great in "skill drills" but is just not good enough in body stuff.
It will interest me as we evolve as to how Carrot and Armfield are used and made more accountable

I liked the fact that we ran out the game. My favourite bit was Judd beating Abblett hands down when they went one on one.

Hard to base much on that game, but IMO WATTO should play next week. Dawes and Cloke need big backmen. Jamo will come in, will bower??

Sometimes I don't back up what I say because people scare me, I'm a wimp. Believe it or not, I totally believe what I'm saying at the time of writing, I don't do it to piss people off. I'm not really one to analyse details, I just tend to look for patterns (if that makes me odd, so be it) I wanted a 100 point win, so I'm happy.

Watson would get soundly beaten by both those players at this stage I think... But he doesn't deserve to be dropped either....

I agree.
He battled hard, particularly against Dickson.
Played very well and enjoyed his kicking, but let's ease him into it.
Cloke and Dawes murdered the Roos today, not sure if we want to drop Watson into the fire. I wouldn't be upset if he swapped out for Jamo.

Not getting carriedaway with the performance as we played practically a Reserves standard outfit tonight.

- Loved the long kicking of Watson out of the backline.
- Jeffy G in an absolute SUPERSTAR
- Eddie is a much better player with Fev no longer around
- Warnock was worth the chase and is paying back Ratts and co big time for the faith they showed in him
- As mentioned by many others previously, and going by his performances the last few weeks, Ed Curnow has probably replaced Brock in our best 22. Makes giving up Pick 11 to get McLean look pretty stupid now doesnt it....
- Carazzo's stuff ups are really starting to annoy me now. I know he tries his heart out and I admire him for that, but we'll know when we're a fair dinkum Flag threat when he's no longer playing seniors week in week out.
- Good to see Thornton finally playing well in the Navy Blue. Dont know whether playing him forward will work next week against the Pies though, but its good to know that there's that string to his bow.
- Was rapt to see Juddy winning the contest with Ablett hands down. As Walls stated un his article yesterday, Judd has proved that he can overcome the heat of being the main man in the midfield since he crossed to us from the Eagles. I wonder if Ablett can do the same ?
- Surely Simon White and not Watson will probably be the player to make way for the inevitable return of Jamo next week... Makes too many mistakes for my liking, and that cant be afforded aganst a side like Collingwood who would punnish you every time.
- Big month ahead for us as we're going to be up against the Pies, Bummers, Crows and Saints. If we can win at least 2 of those games, I'll be happy.

By the way, a massive one finger salute to all those media 'experts' who tipped Gold Coast to win tonight. That'll teach you for letting your Carlton hatred get the better of you. Morons the lot of you!!!

I'm in WA and only have the scoreline and stats to go by BUT....... I really don't mind who or where or how we played, I'm stoked to finally thump a side by more than 100 points for a change. There were times in the last couple of sessions we should have done it but slowed down in the last quarter. I say well done to the boys. Were not full strength yet either remember.

I watched it without any excitement.
I had hoped they would kick 200 points. We won't get many chances to build percentage and this was one of them.

Noticed a few 'WOOFS' coming from the crowd when Watson kicked out. The kid has a beautiful kick both long and short.
Garlett will be a superstar.

We played with Toy
Tape didn't measure up.
Swallow went south

They will never be that easy to beat again.

Now we find out how good we are compared to Collingwood.

Interesting perspectives on Watson - I say play him. Physically he has tools, and I don't think White does.

I do understand the concerns on throwing him into a bit too deep, but he looks like he's got the mindset to hold his own.

A question for all those trivia buffs out there, and it's one that's done my head in overnight. When was the last time we beat a team by over 100 points, or by close to what we won by last night?

Cheers

2001 was the last time we beat a side by over 100 points.
