They don't provide as much protection as he claims, which is why they've all but disappeared from senior footy. |

A terrific human being is Rod Ashman. Back in 85 and 86 I spent many a day coaching him to be a sales rep. At the time he was coach of the ressies and would delight me with all the stats. A very decent man. Coincidentally , and slightly off topic I played a round of golf yesterday with 2 others ex Blues players from the 80's. Lesser lights in Peter Kenny and Spiros Kourkamelis. Both a great laught. Shared plenty of stories and laughs. Buggers beat us 3 and 2 in a reasonably tight struggle. |

I've heard that soft helmets don't work, and hard helmets increase injuries, especially neck injuries. I remember seeing a Beyond Tomorrow report on a skiing hat that was soft, but hardened under impact; they claimed it gave as much protection as a hard material. Maybe this is something worth investigating. |
