''I just wanted to play my best football and I expressed where I thought my best football was played and where my strengths were as a footballer. Running capacity was one of them so I really wanted the opportunity to play in the midfield as well as forward and Carlton offered that to me, so we sat down and said we are going to work on it all and here we are now.

''Definitely I had plenty to prove too [as a forward]. I had fronted up early wanting to play in that sort of position up forward and I finally got the opportunity, it was in a final … I had a bit of a negative role as well that day so to get a few goals and shut a guy out for three quarters while I was on him was the thing that people mentioned.

There's two things wrong with that title, in that Walker has played in this role long before last season and that the role itself is hardly new. Then the pun in the headline suggests we're innovative...

The article is much better than the headline. Some interesting stuff...

Claims he was on Malceski (or was it Mattner) for 3 quarters, not the 4th, to clear up that debate from last September

No strapping on shoulders for the first time in 5 years, the operation was "innovative" Jimmae (in the AFL context)

Comes across as articulate and thoughtful, not surly
