On the eve of the end of his AFL career I want to remember the highlights of his career at Carlton dont want to go into his stint at Brisbane nor the reasons for his sacking My first glimpse of hollywood was in a pre- season game at PP when Brendan was a 17 year old -just drafted - we were playing Collingwood and the proceeds from the match went to the heart foundation- he played very laconically - had a big pony tail -took 2 marks and kicked 2 monster goals the last one about 55 metres out at cemetry end -moved like a natural forward -displayed not surprisingly a penchant for not chasing out of forward line Next few seasons saw him at training Brittain and parkin et al continually getting stuck into him for efforts liarising etc - this was even after the millenium game where he announced himself on new years eve as a potential star - in and out of the team for the next few years -whilst a lot of natural talent -didnt seem to work hard enough -senior players Silvagni etc didnt think he would make it -This was the case even though during games glimpses of flair and talent Brittain ready to ditch him just before he got axed by Elliott The Pagan years /the dark years for the Blues were the golden years of the Fev - yes selfish enigmatic and erratic BUT during those years was one of the only reasons the young carlton barrackers would come to the footy -Hollywood could and did do everything from taking the one handed mark soccer goals -monster goals from 50 plus out - terrorise opponents good and bad - have other teams supporters up in arms -hence the name Hollywood -could be good -could be bad -always flashy and always wanting the limelight I know now the sentiment is used ironically against him but he was in those dark years really good with the kids -always willing at training to sign autographs and have photos taken -last into the sheds after training because of it The semi final against Brisbane in 2009 was his last game which I saw live and I THOUGHT at the time he was almost getting it in that he almost played as a decoy forward that night and enabled the other forwards to get the goals because there were 2 defenders trying to stop Hollywood from dominating Good luck HOLLYWOOD and thanks for the memories |

There were magic moments for sure like that winning goal from the boundary line at Football Park against the crows, but in reality Fev for Carlton was like cigarettes to a smoker. We ultimately broke the habit and we'll be better for it. |

Great post, Frankie. All the best to Fevola in getting things back in order. He will never be forgotten for the good he did for us on-field when we could hardly win a game. Round 3 2007 sticks out in my mind as one of the best displays I've seen from a Carlton player. One of the sweetest wins too, as he piled on 8 goals to bury Essendon* from 48 points down. |

He was a shining light on the field in our darkest hours as a club It was great to have him, now its great that we have parted company with each other |

I'll remember the good times and the joy I got from watching him play. But I'll also remember the times he drove us insane and pissed all over the club and people that stood by him and loved him. 'Fin |

I'd actually like the club to offer up an olive branch of support to Fev. Not as a footballer, but as a man who needs support in one of his darkest days. We are still paying him K100 or more this season if press reports can be believed. Let him maintain his fitness at Carlton/Preston and work with the young guys at the Bullants. Who knows, Carlton could really help it's public image by being there for Fev and I know that many younger supporters would love to have Fev back associated with the club and handing out autographs and smiles after training. They just need to keep him on a very, very short leash, but at the same time enable him to win back both some self respect and broader community respect as a person and former player. Fev needs help to redeem himself and win back community support. Carlton would potentially gain much credibility for providing a positive role for Fev. His presence would be a constant reminder to our young guns of wasted talent, and that your carreeer can be very fleeting so grab every opportunity with both hands. Fev is one of ours. Both good and bad Fev! |

With his weird way of holding the ball (which apparently Robert Walls has mentioned once or twice), would we even consider bringing him in as a part-time goalkicking coach/helper? |

I was one of these young blue baggers during the dark years and yes, Fev was one of the few reasons to continue paying attention. However, the most prominent memory of Fev I now hold is not the 55m goal from the boundary line on a windy day to beat Adelaide. It's actually a quote from a unnamed source at Carlton around the time the Lions were beginning to realize what a massive mistake they'd made in recruiting Fev. The source told of how during group bonding sessions/activities Fevola would flat-out refuse to participate, and encourage others not to take part. How he would moan and complain and disrupt any and every team meeting or match review the coaching staff held. And, perhaps most infuriatingly, how he would actively bully any of the young kids who would come in to do extra weight training outside of normal hours - 'what the @#$%&! do you think you're doing mate?' For me, these anecdotes completely nullify any of his countless incredible feats on the footy field. The man was a malignant cancer on our footy club. I don't care what sort of troubles he's having, he's an absolute disgrace and should never be allowed within eyeline of Princess Park again. |

My earliest memories of Fev was that Millennium Match against Collingwood back on New Years Eve in 1999 where he booted 12.3 as an 18 year old. I remember thinking we have something special here (obviously!) and it took him a couple of years before he actually arrived officially. I remember not long after that particular match there was a documentary on ABC called 'The Draft' which followed Fev, Ramanauskis and Headland around prior to them being drafted. Was a pretty cool insight, you could tell at that time Fev was a genius, a flawed genius though. |

The game against Stkilda mid 2000's. It is a bad as we have ever played. HE kicked 4 goals 7. I don't think he received one pass.....that's how good he was |

Fev made his own bed. I recall Leigh Matthews being interviewed about Fev getting another chance - and saying that unless they were complete knuckleheads - most players would realise that on what was their last chance there was an enormous importance to change their old ways. Lots of Fevola Highlights - but theres always a terrible sense of squandered opportunity. |

My off field memory of fev is a relatives little boy going up to him at a footy clinic to tell him he supported carlton, Fev looked at him and said 'so what' the boy ran off in tears |

Both good and bad Fev! No. He cannot come near any of our players or be given the chance to get in their ear. He cannot play in the Bullants or coach or even train. It was so hard to get rid of him, and the last thing we want is to undo everything now. 'Cancer' is a very strong word, but he is definitely an unsettling and selfish influence, whether he does it on purpose or not. Should we support him? Yes. We already are. He will have the ear and the sympathies and assistance of many ex players and execs. We paid him truckloads. We tried to get him into reform programs. We gave him a lot of latitude. The fact that he stayed in rehab this time wasn't because the Lions are so much more caring & supportive than Carlton, it's because he realized that finally this really was his last flowering chance. He's a grown man. We gave him as much as he gave us. He just got a $1.5 million payout - that's enough to set up any idiot. He's not the only person in the world to go through a breakup. He's not homeless and he's got any number of people to help him through his problems. Thanks for the footy memories Fev, but you're not coming back to our playing group even if it's the Bullants 3rds. If Eddie wants you then good luck to him. |

Besides Fev getting the appropriate assistance from the past players through the Spirit of Carlton crew, the Club should have nothing more to do with him. |
