I suppose he is one the player that knows all about the trappings of playing footy in the big time. He also had the ego to match, a pure magician on his day the Buzz. |

I don't think we will ever see a player with the freakish ability that Buzza had. Brought so much joy to the Navy Blues and it's a shame we only had him for 3 years rather than his entire career. A true entertainer. Glad there is some light at the end of the tunnel for him in terms of his retirement. |

Hmmm....what I get from that is a man who misses the halcyon days in which he was very much a part of, and spends countless hours reminiscing about them. I don't blame him - I've been guilty of the same thing...It's normal...as for what the AFL does with its players post retirement, well...Buzz ought to spend a week with the aflpa...they haven't exactly been revolautionary in things they've done, but they're a very good organization for the current and retired footballer. |

How good would a highlights package on DVD be on the Buzz - damn the bugger for going back after 3 years he had the footy world at his feet. He may have been a bit inconsistent but the highs were high, what a leap for a bloke his size. He took countless speccies and was a very unselfish player who would give the ball off to a team-mate in a better position to kick for goal which was a rarity in those days. I am still spewing he went back 3 years, he still had a lot if front of him to achive all's that he had to show for time in the AFL was 2 day flags, 1 night flag, mark of teh year and goal of teh year!!! ![]() I dont know if its true or not, but my older brother told me the story behind the goal of the year in 1981. Apparently Parkin had given Buzz a good old serve at the break in the 1981 2nd semi and said that he needed to lift and demanded that he do something for the team to lift it - then he goes out and kicks the goal of the year. I still get goosebumps thinking about that as a 12yo watching it happen from the opposite pocket at Waverley. He truly was a Mr Magic ![]() |

He had two failed attempts to return to Carlton. In 1984 mid year he was all but set to return but his WAFL side played hard ball and Carlton weren't prepared to fork out the cash they were demanding. Soon after that Bosustow put his hand through a pane of glass after a loss. He then came over at the end of 1985 and did a pre-season joining the likes of Bradley,Kernahan,Motley & Dorotich at the club. Inside Football even ran a cover of Walls,Kernahan,Bosustow and Dorotich in one of there pre-season specials. Alas ankle problems arose and the Blues opted not to list him for the 1986 season. |

Imagine a 1986 forward line with Maclure, Sticks and Buzz all in it... WOW! |

How true it is I dont know, but I heard that he was told that he would struggle to get a game in '86 and could save face and not play due to ankle problems. He would have turned 29 in 1986 so he was no spring chicken by then. |

His mark of the year has been and will always be on my avatar (as I can pick myself in the crowd in the photo ![]() As far as marks go its one of the greatest I have ever witnessed first hand and to be only 10 metres away from it was an honour and a privilege. Jack Dyer got it wrong he wasn't a "good ordinary player " he was an absolutely "brilliant ordinary player". |

I was on the wing in front of the Hawthorn Stand when he took that mark, it was some special alright. Jack Dyer was a tool in the media and was totally irrelevant in his later years in the media, he was so anti-Carlton it was a joke. I never took much notice of him back then. |

I was in the forward pocket that day in '81 too, though up in the stand looking over Bosustow's shoulder as he took that mark. Mossop was trying to body him out of the contest as the ball came in, Buzz took a couple of steps back and I can remember thinking "Ooh he's going to have a fly at this". Bit of an understatement! I was on my feet clapping for so long that a frustrated spectator behind me finally tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to sit down. |

I've a funny story to relate about Buzz's mark- my mate Tez who was at the game and somewhere in the Heatley Stand, decided to take a leak (deep in the bowels of the stand......oh yes, very droll!) Anyway, as he's doing the business, he hears this enormous roar and goes, "WTF!"- thinking the opposition had scored the goal. When he asked his mate what had happened, his mate said, "Check it out tonight on the news!" To this day, he hasn't quite forgiven himself for the leak........ ![]() ![]() |

I remember Buzz saying after his goal of the year contender - I have already won the mark of the year and goal of the year, it would be nice to win the Brownlow and flag. This was before teh two awards had even been decided!!!!!!! Never short of confidence was the Buzz |
