With Tanning Salon Terry's quality record, I reckon that puts us in pretty good stead.

While i do agree with a small part of his article, in that we did give up early draft picks for the mentioned players, 4 picks (3,11,20 and 24) is hardly lots of players.
The part i found amusing is that we have lots of players 27 and over. By my reckoning we have 7 players on our list over 27. Judd, Scotland, Waite, Thornton, Setanta, Carrazzo and Houlihan. Two of those dont get regular games anyway.
Of all people to be critical of trading and drafting!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's headline:

Carlton doubts Terry Wallace's Quality.

Tan-man Wallace can sometimes be insightful, but IMO is off the mark with this one.

He thinks our window closes in 18 months, and will then start heading backwards! I'm not so sure
Judd will play and captain this club for at least another 4 years, while it may be Scooter's last. Other than that we have a 'young developing' but somewhat quality list with plenty of depth. Were we not clearly the youngest side in the 8 last year??

I would also like to see how the average age of our list stacks up with the competition.

The Brock deal is looking shaky, but we made up for it by getting YOUNG talent in Henderson and Lucas via the Fevola deal. Seems Teflon Terry has overlooked that.

Teflon Terry has also overlooked the fact we didn't give up a top pick for Warnock. Freo got No. 24 (Nick Suban), No. 56 (Ben Bucovaz) and No. 68 (Tim Ruffles). Now Suban goes OK and has played 38 games, but not sure about the other 2. Think we did fine out of that deal.

Teflon clearly doesn't rate the quality of ...

Betts
Yarran
Garlett
Henderson
Jamison
Bower
Russell
Joseph
Armfield
Warnock
Hampson
Collins
Lucas
Watson
Mcarthy
Mitchell
Laidler
Robinson
Walker
White
Casboult
Curnow
Austin
Davies
Ellard

Terry is basically saying in two years we are stuffed as we'll have probably 4 players on our list who will be 29+ in Judd, Waite, Simpson and Carrazzo.

I think we should start tanking on the recommendations of Wallace.

We should do a 5 year plan similar to Terry as it worked for him

In terms years we will be a super side.

Judd and Waite will still be playing great footy, and the young talls (Kruezer, Henderson, Warnock, Hampson, Jamison, Bower) will be fully mature while the likes of Watson, Mcarthy, and Mitchell will be into their third years - Watson and Mitchell, given their strong builds already could well be regulars in the firsts in 2 years.

Murphy (if he stays) and Gibbs will be among the top mids in the AFL. And Lucas, Yarran will be excellent players on the up.

Hayes is 31
Boomer is 33 in May
Simon Black is 32 in April
Pavlich will be 30 in December.
Chapman and Enright are 30 this year.
Think you’ll find Mcloed, Goodwin, Edwards were 33 when they retired
Judd is 27 and not 28 til the finals – inc this year he has 5 good years maybe even more if lucky

Waite is versatile and athletic, and anyway we have Kruez and Hendo, not to mention Mitchell coming through

What Teflon Terry overlooks, among many other things, is we have actually recruited and traded brilliantly the last few years.

Fevola deal was brilliant, and we were roundly praised for our 2010 draft.

Great young mids/flankers - Lucas, Yarran, Gibbs, Murphy, Russell, Garlett, Betts

If anything I think we have an expcetional list, with no quality players old enough to be retiring in the enxt few years

What he also overlooked is that he systematically raped 2 entire lists, and left two teams smouldering ruins. He has zero credibility in judging other lists.

The guy has issues with us since the Judd rejection. Let's just ignore him and make sure we make them all hurt in the end with our success.
