Collo did more harm to the club in the three years he was at the helm than Big Jack done in 20

He came in with intent of getting another big drawing occupant for the Ice rink and carlton supporters and members bought it hook line and sinker

Set this club back 15 years by pandering to the AFL and looking after self interests -Thank God Pratt and Brown and co came in and put an end to it all

Goddard, who grew up a passionate Carlton fan, was snapped up by the Saints at pick one when the 2002 national draft order was reshuffled.

Why hasn't this been mentioned before?

Poor Brendon, no chance of winning a flag now.

I'm actually more angry about the AFL changing the PP rules midseason to shaft us (from PP before the 1st round to before the 2nd round)

Yeah... Probably wouldn't have Judd, Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer if we hadnt been reprimanded (raped) like that. If they can deliver a premiership I don't care.

Exactly my thinking, well said.

Anyway, we got Simpson with our first pick in the end, pick 40 something, and also got Fisher with pick 70 something, so it wasn't all that bad. Simpson has turned into one of our most crucial players. Having said that, damn it'd be nice to have Goddard though

Same.

Goddard can GAGF.

Good player, but overrated. He stands out because he's not a passenger in a team of them.

Collo was the only one that stood up to Elliot. Collo cut all players wages one million over the salary cap for a wooden spoon team.

Collo did all the dirty work he was never going to come out smelly like roses.

Goddard overrated? It must be the silly season.

Goddard and Hayes are both champions of the game and a walk up start to any team in the AFL.

While Judd is better credentialled than either of them, Goddard is probably better than anyone else in the Carlton squad at present (although fairly they have a few years of experience, and I'm tipping the K man will be one of the best in the competition in a couple of seasons).

While he can GAGF for being a Saints player, suggestions of being overrated must surely be in jest.

While Collo led the group the others on the board didn't do their job either. Simon Wilson let us down. If he was so convinced of our case he should had the guts to take Collo on.

Collo had his faults and perhaps getting the Blues to Etihad was one of his agenda's.
If Collo set back the club 15 years then Big Jack set it back 100 years.
Jack was rightfully booted out of the club which he left in an absolute mess.

After thinking about it why is this even being published?

All it does is help reaffirm the ONLY CARLTON CHEATS bullshit, and makes us sound like a bunch of whiners.

Poor judgment by Simon Wilson here. He should never have aired his views - not to the Herald-Sun and certainly not to Michael Warner. Now the media outlets around town are using the words - 'Revelation' and 'Revealed' as if it were a fait accompli that had we challenged the AFL Commission, the priority pick would automatically be ours.

That's not the case and more importantly, the club had to guarantee its future and were very much at the behest of the AFL, who have since done things for the Carlton Football Club that no other sporting governing body in the world would have dared. It would have been very easy for Wayne Jackson and Andrew Demetriou to recommend to the Commission that we, in the words of Bruce Mathieson - 'lock the place up and hand in the the keys'...because people shouldn't forget that that was one of the options on the table...thankfully - members never had to part with $50 bucks to wind the club up.

FWIW - Goddard might have taken a few years to produce the goods 'expected' of a number 1 draft pick - but he is now one of the genuine stars of the game. In 2003, Leigh Matthews was praising Brisbane captain Michael Voss in a presser and was asked: 'If you could clone a footballer, is Voss as close as you could get to the perfect model?'

'No, you'd clone Anthony Koutoufides,' Matthews said. 'He's the most talented player at his best I've seen, at his best. He has ups and downs, we know. But if he's on, he's 6.4, he wins stoppages, so if you're going to clone somebody, I reckon 22 Koutas would be a pretty tough team to beat.'

Ask the same question today, and I'm convinced the answer would be Brendon Goddard.

The QC is a fat loudmouth who loves publicity. If he truely had the best interests of the club at heart he would not be talking to the press about this. It simply brings back the issues of salary cap cheating and further tarnishes a brand oour club has been working hard to rebuild.

You were soft then QC, you never had the guts to take on Collo, and you are nothing but a tosser now.

Mark my words, now he is off the board he will be the new Mr Rent-a-quote.
