Does anyone know about the form of this coach.

Without prejudging I think the training pics from today show a pretty fundamental exercise which is carried out at every footy club in the world.

I hope he has more in his bag of tricks that 2 blokes standing opposite each other with a bag and just punching the shit out of the bag. Boxing is also about reflexes, decision making, power, endurance, footwork ect, ect, ect. The exercise today showed just a couple of those attributes.

So whats the new coaches form?....anyone?

He's a personal trainer who has previously worked as a boxing coach for the Western Bulldogs.

Thanks Rexy

He is a big unfit looking unit for a personal trainer, however, don't suppose that means much these days

FWIW, I recall reading an article a few years ago when Ben Cousins was looking to move to Victoria that he was training in Port Melbourne with Tim Smith.

I was hoping he had something to do with the crowd that sorted out Eddie, Walks and Hoops this year. They certainly returned in top shape

Tim Smith was at the dogs for years
Infamously gave the players a rev up at 3/4 time in a match. Called the players in after Rocket.
Funny stuff from a funny guy. Very good bloke.
Peviously was the owner of the London Hotel in Port Melbourne
He and his brother did up the pub in the 90's and made a motza out of it.
great pub it was too.

Has absolutely nothing to do with boxing but just a bit of trivia
.

I think the arrangement was bit more than training if you ask me. Smith acted as Cousins' minder when he was in Melbourne. He's very well known in the football world, the boxing world, hotel industry, real estate and racing industry...in fact it's easier to count the number of people he doesn't know.

He does. He's worked at Leo Berry's gym for years. He's old school. Doesn't take shortcuts. You don't say 'no', 'i'm done', 'i quit' in his presence. Our young boys will grow up quickly working with him and will learn the art of boxing as well.

Oh...and he's not short of coin either is Timmy...so it's not as if he needs to do this gig...it's because he wants to. That's the best type of employee to have. All's good.

If you are not prejudging him why not just say 'does anyone know anything about the new boxing coach'. Why insinuate he might be lacking in some way based on a couple of photos.

Boxing's as much about technique as anything else. If your technique is poor, you'll end up injured. Therefore, I'm glad he's easing the players in and ensuring they know what they're doing before getting too carried away.

it's true though baz, why jump to the conclusion that the club may have hired a dud?

Why not just state - 'saw we have a new boxing coach, anyone know anything about him?'
