Great find no doubt.

But for the greatest football club in the world to forget about such items is a little worrying.

Happy digitising!

Seems like they were "archived" about the time JE assumed the Presidency.

No, the tapes were very much a product of David Parkin's work. They basically begin at 1981 (apart from a few tapes) and finish at the end of 1985, when Parkin finished with the club. Well after Elliot began as club president.

Great work Parko!
So Wallsy was not a tape man.

What good luck it was to find that stuff, and the tapes still intact!

Don't know if this has been posted:

I had no idea Parko had been appointed Blues coach for the 1976 season

How many flags might we have won with a Parkin at the helm instead of Stewart, Thorogood and Jones

Yes it is really good news. Does anyone know if the club will be planning to sell any of the matches, there would be some that I would be interested in buying (1982 v Swans at PP and 1982 finals come to mind). Are these recordings what the club did or are they Channel 7?

Has anyone got a copy of the 1986 first Semi Final, Carlton vs Hawthorn?

A 6 goal to 3 final term saw us kick away from the Dawks, running out 28 point winners and gaining a weeks break before the Grand Final. (from Blueseum.org)
Hadn't beaten the Dawks since 1983!

Best player was Peter Motley. Could have been a star. Played very much like Bryce Gibbs. Sadly his career was cut short by car accident.
Any copy of this game is worthwhile just to see him play. Gold.

(Great year for debuts... Stephen Kernahan, Mil Hanna, Jon Dorotich, Craig Bradley, Bernie Evans and Peter Motley.)

Unfortunately, you can't buy it online (aflnameagame.com.au), so if anyone have the game on video, I would love a copy.

John

Good work Jars.
I'm sure every true Carlton person appreciates the efforts.

IIRC Motts was one of the few to play well in the GF that year as well.

IIRC Motley was also a fantastic pack mark and would drift in from side, back and front to mark over the pack.
Doull–esque skills
